This roundup of things we liked this week originally appeared in the March 20, 2025 edition of theSecret Strategistnewsletter, a weekly email where we share the stuff our staff — plus a rotating cast of writers, design-world people, and various others with very good taste — would otherwise keep to themselves. If you want to get our picks straight to your inbox each week, sign uphere.

Our pants-spidey-senses tingled when wespotted a photo of reiki practitioner and textile designer Brock Forsblom in an old article about his apartment inT; he was shot wearing a really fantastic pink pair. We called him up to ask about his stash, and he did not disappoint. —Katy Schneider and Simone Kitchens

This Week’s List

* So here is what Brock told us, re: his pants: “The pink ones are a collaboration betweenCactus Store and Shoyoroll, a Japanese karate-uniform company; they did this funny collab of pants and tops. I also got them in green. I have ayellow pairfromEighteen Easton Elizabeth Street. I havepleated purple onesfrom Issey Miyake — I do have a love affair with his pants. Then I have theseleopard ones; they’re cheap and cheerful wax-resist print pants from this Senegalese vendor on Seventh Avenue and 10th Street. They were $20; they’re heaven. My other very favorite pair are fromYAMMA, they’re made out of this special Japanesecotton. I would rather be expressive with my pants than my tops. Which is maybe not always what people do, but for some reason, there’s something about pant expression — there’s an ability to have more fun with pants. White T-shirt, colored pants. One overarching pants story is they’re all comfy, full range of motion — pajama pants that look like they’re not pajama pants. Today I am wearing these black Issey Miyake almost like winter-wool terry-cloth pleated pants which are heaven but they attract so much shmutz. I’ve never had a shmutzier pair of pants in my life.”

Two big takeaways: The stylishEmily Hollandlikes Levi’s 509s, a straight-leg style we somehow had never heard of before (she bought them at theConsistency Projectin Brooklyn), and the also-very-stylishDelphine Del Valis a fan of the medium-blueWranglers, whichSimonehas loved forever: “I have had them for a year, I love them!” she told us. “No stretch.
