Earlier this fall, I chatted with high-schoolers across the country — from New York to Illinois to Alabama — who all told me one thing: Every teenage girl in their grade carried around this chunky,dual-pouch wristlet. The draw, according to the teens, is that the pouch easily fits the essentials, including their brand-new driver’s licenses, car keys, and lip glosses (usually,Summer Fridays’ Lip Butter Balmin “pink sugar”). A couple months into the school year, it seems the wristlet hype is only growing. It’s been making steady appearances onwish-list TikTokand continues to come up in my conversations with teens. I’m predicting that it’s on track to be the “It” gift among the new-driver set this holiday season.
Lululemon rarely holds sales, but today, the wristlet is 30 percent off, bringing the price down to what I’d describe as the stocking-stuffer price zone: $34 (rather than the usual $48). The discount applies to two colors — a neutral olive-green version and a sunny butter-yellow one. If you’re still not convinced, just think of it as a practical gift. “I’m not really at the age where I really need a purse per se,” one teen told me. “This is just something small and easy to put on my wrist and walk.”
