Aquaphor is my absolute go-to for everything. I’ve been using it for over a decade. I have it in my purse, my car, my home, the drawer, my kids’ backpacks. It’s everywhere around the house. This particular size, the seven-ounce, feels so good in hand. The little flip cap is the one that you keep in your car, your bathroom drawer, and your kitchen. If your lips chapped, if you’re feeling a little dry on your elbows or your knees, you can rub it in all of the dry spots. It’s amazing.

I used this for the first time at an aunt’s house in Brooklyn. I was like, “This is so cool. This must be a New York thing,” so now I attribute it to the coolness of Brooklyn. It’s the perfect wake-up when you are showering in the morning. It’s refreshing. But it’s somehow calming in the evening too. I have everyone that I know hooked on it. I won’t do any other scent. I only use it for body. I know that the label tells you you can use it for everything in between, but I’ve only experimented as far as a body wash.

This is a nice go-to to clear the face of any makeup or sunscreen but is still sensitive on the skin. It removes everything you’re trying to remove without drying out the skin too bad.

The balm she likes for dry spots

I am all about hydration. I have a balm on my desk. I have lotions everywhere. This one is particularly good for all of the extra-dry spots like elbows and knees. If you have a little bit of eczema, if you have chafing, if you’re getting off of plane and you feel extra dry, this keeps you hydrated without it feeling, like, thick or greasy.

If you like a sudsy face wash, this one feels good on the skin. It’s super light, really great for sensitive skin. Anyone around your house can use it and grab it. It doesn’t do much damage and isn’t too drying. I’ve been using it since college and always have at least two bottles in the house.

I’ve been using this one since high school. I almost didn’t put this on the list because I’ve been using it for so long, and it dates me. It is so black. The pen works so well. It’s so cheap. If you forget it while you’re traveling, you can grab it. It works wonderfully. It stays put all day.

It’s a hand sanitizer. I keep this one in the car and my purse if it’s big enough. The spray version, specifically, not the pump. It does not smell like alcohol. It has this refreshing, lightly scented smell where you can spray it all over. They say that it’s a deodorant, so you can do a little spritz-up on the go in the car. It’s a complete workhorse when you’re traveling. Makeup artists clean their brushes with Jao; that’s how I first discovered it, in makeup kits.

People underestimate what a good wipe can do. It’s good if your hands are stick or you have to wipe down something really easy. If you wanna wipe your face down or you’re sweating. Water wipes are perfect. They’re fragrance-free. They’re clean. It’s great for sensitive skin. And not only can you, like, wipe yourself down, but you can wipe down your environment. Ten out of ten recommend that people keep water wipes in their bags and in their cars.

This one I buy in bulk. I probably have four bottles at all times in the house. I have twin girls with very curly hair. It makes any type of kink disappear. You put it on in the shower after the conditioner while your hair is sopping wet, and the Unbrush, my next recommendation, will slide right through. There are no tears. There are no tugs. There is no breakage. It’s a little miracle.

It’s witchcraft. It makes it so easy to navigate natural, curly hair. You can get the first detangle with the brush without any breakage. It’s pretty incredible. It’s tear-free if you have small children, but then for adults, it saves your arms from the arm workout of wash day because it glides through. You can always go through for a second later with your wide-tooth comb, but it does the heavy lift when you’re first trying to brush.
