If You Buy One Thing Today, Make It These Red Wing Boots

I have searched websites far and wide this past weekend and today, trying to find some sort of deal on Red Wings. We named the Red Wing 875 (a.k.a. the 6” Moc Toe) the “Greatest Gift” work boot just last week, so it seemed timely. Nordstrom has the Red Wings, but they are not on sale. They have a “Cyber Monday” promotion where you get a $50 Nordstrom gift card if you spend $250 of more. If you’re being generous, that could qualify as a “Red Wing Deal,” but I came across something much better. It might not technically be a “Cyber Monday Deal,” but it is definitely a DEAL you should jump while they are still stocked in all sizes. Red Wing 875s for $160? (I actually said, “What!” out loud, in my cubicle, to myself, when I saw this; these retail for $279, so we’re talking 43 percent off).

The catch, because of course there is one, is that these are Red Wing “Factory Seconds.” The description of the boot on Nordstrom Rack explains: “Red Wing factory seconds tend to have minor cosmetic flaws that do not alter the fit or function of the product.” So, maybe there are a few small marks or scratches on the leather, but for one, people who have bought factory seconds say they’re just fine, and two, these are meant to get scuffed up! Just think of it as Red Wing giving you a head start. Once you break-in the boots a bit, it all blends together.

If you’re unhappy, Nordstrom Rack has a 45-day return policy, so send them back for a refund. The deal even includes a $25 gift credit if you order by 11:59 p.m. PT today (you need to use it between January 11 and February 2, but still!).

The “factory second” model might have “minor cosmetic flaws,” but the boots should otherwise be in perfect working order.

This is the standard retail model, if you prefer to know exactly what you are getting.
