22 Ssense Deals That Are Still Worth It Despite the Tariffs

Last month, Canadian luxury retailer Ssense filed forbankruptcy protectionamid a downturn in the luxury market and more Trump tariff policies being put into place, including the elimination ofde minimis. This rule, which allowed packages worth less than $800 to sail through U.S. customs without incurring taxes or fees,ended in late August, and now, goods from Canada are getting hit with tariffs when they enter the U.S. (The tariff rate depends on a variety of factors, including the item’s country of origin; Canadians are, understandably,not happy about this.) Around 60 percent of Ssense’s orders come from the U.S., so the impact on the retailer has been profound.
This week,a court rulingallowed the company to restructure under new financial terms, so Ssense isn’t closing its doors yet. And although the volatile tariff rules have led to some shocks — including, iconically,New Yorkerwriter Susan Orleangetting hit with a $2,101.26 tariff bill on several thousand dollars’ worth of Dries Van Noten she planned to wear on her book tour (she returned the package without paying) — the retailer has changed its U.S. shipments to a delivered duty paid (DDP) model, which means you’ll pay fees at checkout and won’t be surprised at the post office.
To inveterate Ssense sales shoppers, the “duties” line below shipping (which remains free for orders over $300) is a bitter pill to swallow. But even with tariffs, we found that the deeply on-sale stuff is still worth it — in three sample carts we made of items on sale for 70 percent off or more, tariffs added between 10 and 18 percent in fees, an upcharge that’s easier to bear when you’re getting GanniChelsea bootsfor $99. At this deep-discount level, stock and sizes are limited, but I’ve done my best to include items with multiple sizes remaining.
