We’re all looking for the same things in abra: support without constriction and a form that complements the natural shape of your breasts. If you can wear it with just about any outfit, even better. Two kids and several boob-size fluctuations later, I’ve finally found The Bra that fulfills all those criteria, and it is the Limitless Wirefree Scoop Bra from Pepper, a brand forsmall-chested people. In addition to the standard nylon style, Pepper recently released a Supima cotton version, which means I don’t have to search for another bra ever again.
As a true 34A verging on 34AA (my boobs somehow shrunk after I breastfedtwo kids), I never needed that much support. Still, finding a comfortable bra that stayed in place was always tricky until Pepper came along. I stopped wearing underwire bras when I was pregnant with my first child, but a lot of bralettes were too stringy and tight (like Skims’sFits Everybodybras) and oftentoo formless. I still wanted a little shaping.

Then I rediscovered thecomfort and simplicity of a basic pullover bralike the cotton ones from ARQ and Mate the Label. The problem with these, though, is that while they are excellent for wearing at home — they truly feel like nothing — they’re not refined enough to wear under real clothes. The straps are wide and thick and a little bulky, and there’s just a bit too much fabric in the front and back. They work under big sweaters and loose-fitting T-shirts, but for everything else, you need a strappy bra.
Pepper’s wireless scoop bras — which I ordered in small — combine the best components of a traditional underwire bra and a soft bralette. It has adjustable straps, a hook-and-loop closure, and removable padding. I always wear the bras without the pads and appreciate that the cups have just the right amount of built-in padding to give you nipple coverage. I also love the triangle-like shape of the scoop cups, which keep my boobs in place without flattening them. The cut is also deep enough to wear with V-neck tops without the bra showing. Perhaps most importantly, the underband is the perfect width and never feels too tight. I also happen to think it looks pretty sexy for being so plain (there’s a little detail in the center gore that I find to be a nice touch).
I’ve been wearing the nylon style for a year and half in black and buff, which is skin tone on me. (It comes in five additional colors; the Supima only comes in black, gray, and fig.) The material is extremely smooth, and delicate knits and tops don’t ever catch on it. It’s also moisture-wicking and very comfortable in hot and humid weather. The Supima cotton, which I just got a couple of weeks ago, is just as nice. While I don’t have a problem wearing nylon, I do love the idea of having all-cotton underwear. I imagine the cotton bra will be especially nice when the weather gets cold. I now own six of Pepper’s Wirefree Scoop Bra: two black and two tan in nylon and one gray and one black in cotton.
