This roundup of things we liked this week originally appeared in the August 1, 2024 edition of theSecret Strategistnewsletter, a weekly email where we share the stuff our staff — plus a rotating cast of writers, design-world people, and various others with very good taste — would otherwise keep to themselves. * Daphne Javitch ofDoing Wellused to have this great lingerie basics line called TEN — really comfy but actually good-lookingbrasand underwear — but it’s sadly no longer. The other day when a friend brought it up (“Have you ever discovered another underwear brand like TEN? Why is underwear such a letdown!! Or a million dollars?”), we decided to ask Daphne herself what underwear she likes. “I actually get asked about thisa lot,” she wrote back. “I really liked Arq undies for sleeping in, but they closed. The closest I have found to TEN that’s not a million dollars is Monoprix or Marks + Spencers. I like theribbed ones from Monoprixand theplain white cotton underwear from M+S. I also really like Calida brand, especially this stylehereandhere. SometimesHanrodelivers. Whenever I travel, I hit flea markets for cotton undies at affordable prices. And I always visit the granny shops with nightgowns and underpants. Good luck to all!”
Editor’s note: Monoprix lists all prices in euros, so the price shown is an approximate conversion to U.S. dollars.
