Su Wu, curator and author ofMesoamerican Modern,is selling ceramic mugs that look like wet cardboard, a necklace she found at a gas station, and a very big gourd.

Carved Wood Necklace - $40 OBO

Photo: Su Wu

Contemporary craft object by anonymous maker, found in one of those Mexican mini-markets where they don’t turn the lights on during the day while looking for water on a road trip. Look at this beautiful face! Once long ago, when I was really high, these women I love were like, “Let’s all give ourselves compliments; what’s your favorite part of your body?” And they were like, my ankles, or my shoulders, and then I said, “My face,” and they have not let me live this down, but I meant it! My God, I love faces. Look at this face with features like mine, this freaking beautiful face!

Gourd Jug - $50 OBO

Photo: Su Wu

One day at my lowest this year, blind in one eye and feeling very estranged from luck or reason, I took my children to the annualartesaniafestival at Los Pinos, where I promptly found this enormous hollowed-out gourd, about the size of a pregnant belly, with a carved wooden cap and rope handle. We then had to carry it around for the rest of the day, an unwieldy burden that invited kind remarks from strangers but that neither toddler could quite manage while walking. It was a pain at the museum (they didn’t know whether to make us check it) and even more uncomfortable at lunch on the street, balanced with plates of tacos (cochinita pibil, Octavio’s favorite) and liters of agua de tamarindo. But I guess a bad idea seen all the way through is always worth carrying around — some sort of metaphor for impractical joy and a sign of luck turning. Someone else who needs a change should have it now.

Handmade Doll Belt - $30 OBO

Photo: Su Wu

The “Rebellious Things: A History of Modern Egypt in Objects” feed (@rebellious_things_book), once a book project and perhaps again, has a lovely short discourse on a rag doll. He writes of the line between play and amuletic objects, all the figurines found at ancient sites — “soon you will have forgotten all things, and all things will have forgotten you” — and the more recent shift from dolls made of scrap fabric to plastic toys, this intrusion into childhood of global hierarchies and its associated defeats. And yet, persisting: two little yarn figures from Mexico on a strap-woven belt or hat band or really exciting gift ribbon (imagine getting this tied around a bag of extra summer fruit!), connected at the hip.

Ceramic Mugs - $30 OBO

Photo: Su Wu

I got this pair in Oaxaca; I’m sorry I don’t know who the artist is. I thought I would keep them around as a gift until they were needed, but now I am thinking they should be with someone who wants them with particular inclinations. Like, either you want your day to start with pretending at perfection or you take your morning like this: with corrugated texture and craggy edges and patches of insistent unevenness, stuck on there like cardboard left out in the rain.

Huaraches - $15 OBO

Photo: Su Wu

Possibly size 40. There’s a mini-chapter inMesoamerican Modernabout a huarache collection, but these are from mine, never worn and found in my favorite place to shop in every rural mercado, which is the stall that sells empty burlapcostalesand saddles. I love how weirdly preppy they seem with the contrast stitching and trim, despite the tire soles and ballpoint-pen sizing; they would be so wonderful as a boat-shoe replacement, with a pair of board shorts, if only they fit me. I would say these are maybe a size 40?

Jean Paul Gaultier Woven Shorts Circa 1989 - $350 OBO

Photo: Colette Malouf

Size 44. I bought these shorts at the height of the European avant-garde fashion craze, when Jean Paul Gaultier was one of my favorite designers. I wore them in St.-Tropez and have fond memories of wandering the town in my very short JPG shorts. As much as they still make me smile, it’s time to let them go find a new admirer.

John Hardy Woven Silver Tri-Band Bracelet - $1,295

Photo: Colette Malouf

I acquired this substantial sterling-silver bracelet from my friend and fellow CFDA designer John Hardy. Originally a sample, it does not bear the brand’s signature logo, but it is handcrafted in Bali from 925 sterling silver featuring the flexible woven construction for which Hardy is known. Weighty, elegant, and beautifully made, it has been a favorite in my collection. While my style has evolved, this piece deserves to be worn and appreciated by someone who will love it as much as I have.

Chinese Ancestors Paintings on Wood - $1,900 and $1,200

Photo: Colette Malouf
Photo: Colette Malouf

Growing up in Soho, I discovered these paintings by a local artist in a small neighborhood gallery. At the time, I collected antique Chinese furniture, and the works fit beautifully into my home, helping to create a warm and cohesive story throughout the space. As my décor and collecting tastes have evolved, they no longer suit my interiors, but they remain beautiful pieces that deserve to be enjoyed. I hope they find a new home where they can bring the same warmth and character they once brought to mine.

Silver-Plated Mirror w/ Colette Malouf Botanical Clip and Flip Book - $350

Photo: Colette Malouf

When I was growing up, my mother kept a silver brush, comb, and hand mirror on her dresser, and this set always reminds me of that elegant ritual. While it has spent far too long tucked away in a closet, the hand mirror remains surprisingly practical — especially for anyone styling their hair who wants a clear view of the back of their head. To make the set even more special, I’m including one of my hand-sculpted metal-mesh flower hair clips along with a flip-book I produced in 1999 demonstrating how to create a classic French twist. Consider it a complete styling kit: everything needed to prepare your hair for a special occasion with a touch of vintage glamour and personal history.

Marni Belt Bag - $200 OBO

I couldn’t resist this charming Marni belt bag in a chic black-and-bone color combination. It looked fantastic on me a few years ago but unfortunately no longer fits quite the way it should. Its compact proportions are especially flattering on a smaller frame, and I can easily imagine it becoming a favorite accessory for its next owner. Stylish, distinctive, and quintessentially Marni, it deserves to be worn and enjoyed.

ThePasserbyfounder and photographer is selling a vintage Armani skirt, Studio Nicholson pants, and an Opera Sport top.

Arket merino-wool top, Babaà 100% merino wool skirt, Aesther Ekme leather tote bag, and Donald Pliner wedge sandals

This is pretty much a go-to outfit for me, but sadly, everything is a tad too small on me. I really wish I could pull off the Babaà skirt, but the waistband feels a little tight (despite being one size fits all). Same with the shoes — I thought I could make these 7.5’s work, but I’m more a size 8. They are so comfortable. The Aesther Ekme bag I got after hunting for a sale for years, and by the time it arrived, I’d already gotten myself a smaller laptop bag that I just end up using more.

Prices:Arket merino-wool top, small — $50

Donald Pliner wedge sandals, size 7.5M — $65

Chimi Black Sunglasses (Core 06) - $130 OBO

I got these as Celine alternatives. The quality is surprisingly really good, and I love how they fit on my face (I don’t like loose sunglasses). I probably wore these for a month or two — I have a pretty small, round face, and these took over a tad too much. Otherwise, I would have kept them.

Studio Nicholson Baier Pants in Seal - $150

Size U.K. 8. I’ve recently come to the realization that I don’t have the body type for high-waisted pants, so I’m parting ways with some of my staple pieces. These Studio Nicholsons are 58 percent virgin wool, 38 percent Cordura, and 4 percent elastane. Despite having only dry-cleaned these, there’s a slight light-pink mark on the inside of the waistband from the dry cleaners — otherwise, excellent condition.

Margaret Howell High-Waisted Wool/Cotton Trousers - $200

Size U.K. 8. Margaret Howell doesn’t get enough love in the U.S. — I think she makes some of the best-quality, best-fitting trousers. These are 76 percent wool, and they’re somewhere between olive and khaki in color. Perfect for those Vince slingbacks :)

Size small, black, in cotton jersey with a soft, corduroylike texture. I got this in Copenhagen when I didn’t have enough layers on me. Wicker Banneton Bread-Proofing Baskets - $100 OBO

I bought these in Paris 20 some years ago when I was in my very brief sourdough phase (which I had to stop because I’d end up eating the entire loaf when it was warm and fresh out of the oven). These are classic old-school with a linen liner that, along with the open structure of the wicker — create air flow and better skin on the dough among other things (yes, I can go on nerding out here) — and they will give you chic rustic Provençal vibes every time.

Size 43. Growing up in San Francisco, preppy was serious business. I was obsessed with my sister’s dog-eared copy ofThe Official Preppy Handbookand penny loafers were my jam. I love that they’re back and recently scoured online high and low for a pair that had everything — the beefroll, tassels, kiltie, all the bells and whistles. My search went down the rabbit hole until I found this pair in Italy, so I ordered them. Tariffs, duties, and such later, they arrived but sadly are much too narrow for my feet. Peter Som Spring 2015 Floral Cotton Chintz Dress - $345

This print from Spring 2015 was — and is — one of my favorites. The flowers make it feminine, while the black background give it a downtown edge — so it really can be worn anywhere. Short sleeve, drop waist with a lightly full skirt — it’s a veritable dress-up or dress-down go-anywhere dress.

Peter Som Spring 2008 Print Gown - $495

This dress walked the runway for a collection that was inspired by the desert — it was one of my most sexy collections, and this number shows it off well. Fully boned interior corset with a super-flowing skirt with a bit of a train so that it will really flow and catch the breeze — because we all love the drama of that, don’t we? There’s a lovely Chantilly lace inset at the waist as well. All one needs is sun-kissed skin and a fabulous strappy heel and an Aperol Spritz — ’cause matching one’s gown to one’s cocktail is low-key fabulous.

Peter Som Resort 2009 Chantilly Lace Dress with Embellishment - $295 OBO

This dress ticks all those super-feminineMy Fair LadyAscot (an eternal inspiration for me) boxes for me — Chantilly lace, the layered picot hem with contrasting black thread, a little cap sleeve, and then this big bold jet and rhinestone embroidered neckline. 4 Vintage Ties - $80 OBO

I was given these ties in 1996 — I was at my first design job at a company called British Khaki, and there was a huge bag of vintage ties the owner bought for inspiration. I was able to take a handful home. Now, sometimes I realize that I love something for the color and pattern (total magpie here), and this is one of those cases. As much as I aspire to be a full pattern and print person sartorially, I am not this person. I am really at heart a navy, khaki, and black person. They’ve given me joy over the years hanging in my closet, but now someone needs to wear them and let them go out in the world!

Zebra Haircalf Pillows - $95 OBO

For me, animal print is a neutral. These pillows had pride of place on my living room chairs for many years — so many that I literally cannot remember where I got them, but who cares? They’re fab. I’m a self-professed glassware hoarder — and I have a handful of things in this pattern by Oiva Toikka in 1964 (kastehelmimeans “dewdrop” in Finnish), and I love these for dinner parties as they make the act of scooping ice cream out of a pint container much more chic. Framed White Dots Print by Benjamin Critton - $175

In 2012, I wanted to put together a gallery wall but I had a newborn and didn’t have the patience to art-shop for myself. I was friends with Sandeep of Salter House and Picture Room so I basically showed up to Picture Room one day and put myself in her hands. She made so many good selections for me, most of which I still have. This one is by my friend Benjamin Critton, who now runs Marta gallery in L.A. It’s an homage to gallerist Leo Castelli, who was one of the first to use sticker dots to mark sold items. There’s a small shard of glass missing but the frame is in great shape, you’d just need to replace the glass. It’s subtle, but that’s what I’ve always liked about it.

Instead of trying to figure out how to change my body to make the skirt work, I’m happy to give it a happy home.

Jiwinaia Crystal and Painted-Pearl Earrings - $75

I bought these ages ago from one of the famous SSENSE sales, and they were the earrings I would wear to more formal settings. Because they have a certain innuendo, I found them extremely cheeky to wear. Now that I am the age I am, I just have a certain craving for diamonds.

Forc Thermal Label Printer - $20

I launched merch for my newsletter,Consider Yourself Cultured, last year, and I thought having a label printer would make distribution easier. It did not. Even though I’m part of Gen Z, I’m severely technology illiterate, and I couldn’t connect the printer. There just seemed to be too many steps to set it up, so it’s been collecting dust in the corner of my apartment.
Price: $20, and it comes with extra label sheets.

Elizcardinal Styling Package - $100

I offer personalized wardrobe styling built around my Silhouette System®, a framework that helps clients understand the shapes and proportions that make them feel most like themselves. Each client begins with a preliminary questionnaire, followed by an in-person (New York City) or virtual styling appointment ranging from 30 minutes to four hours (the price listed below is for the minimum 30-minute session).

Sessions range from creating new outfits using what the client already owns to refining their existing wardrobe, editing out pieces that no longer serve them, and clarifying their overall style. The goal is to maximize what’s already there before recommending anything new. For those who want it, I also offer an optional add-on shopping packet (at an additional cost) with targeted, thoughtful recommendations and outfit combinations presented as “paper dolls” — visual cutouts of pieces styled together to make the styling process intuitive and cohesive. Testimonials are available atelizcardinal.com.

Person-Reading Services - $399

I’m an arts journalist and novelist who specializes in interviewing highly creative people for a living. I’ve also undergone years of psychotherapy and analysis. What I offer isn’t therapy, but it can be therapeutic. Sometimes what we need in a moment of crisis, bewilderment, or stagnation is an opportunity to present ourselves anew and have someone unpack us in a slightly different order than we’re used to. We want to be read like a text and reinterpreted. The goal isn’t necessarily self-improvement, but permission to find ourselves interesting. Though professional therapy can be excellent, we often don’t wish — or aren’t able — to maintain a consistent relationship with a headshrinker. Occasionally, you need a deep consultation with someone outside your context: a reflection event, not a practice. This is what I offer. Sessions are four hours and highly confidential. Our conversation will be recorded and transcribed for your keeping, shared along with relevant book and art recommendations, quotes, and observations. References and 15-minute informational phone call available upon request. I will ask you at the outset how honest you wish me to be.
