Summer getaway season is almost here, which means that you are going to need to bring some things with you. In a bag. To help us decide what to pack (and what to pack it in), we’ve enlisted some celebrities to tell us what they’re lugging. Today, the travel essentials of Brian Kelly, the founder of travel website The Points Guy. Welcome to My Carry-on.
This might sound like a lot to carry with you, but I bring my own pillow and blanket with me whenever I’m traveling domestically, because those flights never offer them, and I need to be able to get my beauty sleep wherever I can. I typically pick one up at the airport. Even if the airline does offer pillow and blankets, here is something you didn’t want to hear — they are rarely washed.
Whenever I see people go to the bathroom mid-flight without their shoes on, it makes me cringe. It’s okay to take your shoes off and let your feet breathe, but going to the bathroom on a plane without your shoes on is a no-no — the water on the floor is not water! The slides are also easy to slip on versus waking up in a haze and trying to find your shoes and tie them.
This bag is incredibly versatile — I can take it from plane to meeting to dinner. It’s easy to throw over your shoulder when you’re running through the airport to make your flight, and it fits all of my necessities. [Editor’s note: The exact bag Brian Kelly loves is sold out, but this is a very similar model.]
This wallet is sleek and compact but still has a place for everything I need on the go. You never know when a good deal is going to come up, and you always need to have your passport on you.
I don’t travel without these — they are the most comfortable pants ever. In fact, I am wearing them right now.
