October Prime Dayis here, and we’re updating this story hourly. To find the best deals in every category, follow all ofour October Prime Day coverage.
I have two pieces of advice for you if you’re shoppingAmazon Prime Day: Stock up onthose boring-but-necessary items you’ll need to buy anyway, and if you can find a good holiday gift for under $10, grab it early. While many of the items below fall into the latter category, a few things (like thesatin scrunchiesandblackout sleep maskI found on sale) fall into both.
Yesterday, I spent hours scouring our site and the Amazon catalogue for all of the actually good discounts —at least20 percent off — that bring an item’s price down to $10 or less. There are $8 tanks, $4 tubes of mascara, and even an $8 mini LEGO set. You’ll have until the end of the night tonight (that’s 11:59 p.m. PT and 2:59 a.m. ET) to secure these deals, and until then, I’ll be hunting for even more standout markdowns across the beauty, home, kitchen, and tech categories.
Deals I personally think are the best
When a price starts out in the $10 range, the higher the discount, the better. As such, I’m most impressed by the deals that cut an item’s cost in half — or more. One of our favoriteblackout sleep masksis extra-deeply discounted. And if you know someone who can really get intoa possibly family-destroying card game, buyDutch Blitzfor their Christmas stocking now.
Beauty
You’ll find the most discounts in the beauty aisle, where some ofour favorite drugstore mascarasand dry-skin essentials abound. There are plenty of pimple patches to choose from, but I already pressed “check out” on my favorite, a pack of Hero’s Mighty patches. And just because it’s officially autumn doesn’t mean you can stop wearing sunscreen: Our favorite affordablebody sunscreenis discounted by 50 percent.

Clothing and accessories
I scoured my colleague Ambar Pardilla’s lineup ofAmazon Prime Day fashion discountsalong with a slew of our Best in Class guides to find a few needles in the haystack: $8 Gap tanks,Law Roach’s favorite sweatpants, and a trio of scrunchies from Kitsch. Over in the sock aisle, it’s choose your own adventure: fuzzy, Dickies’ Dri-Tech, or good old Hanes.

Health and household
If you, like me, use Prime Day to save a few bucks on household essentials you’ll have to buy anyway, you’re in luck: There’s a healthy crop of laundry detergent, hand soap, stain remover, and more discounted by at least 30 percent. I’d also be remiss not to call out that one of our favoriteblackout sleep masksis on sale at the lowest price I’ve seen it at in years.

Over in the home-and-kitchen space, you’ll save a few dollars on one of our favorite alternatives to single-use plastic bags, somedorm-friendly string lights, and anextra-fast wall charger. I was also delighted to find some particularly tasty popcorn kernels and one of our favorite canned tomato sauces on sale for nearly 30 percent off.
