While many think of Memorial Day as a good day to buy mattresses (true), it’s also a perfect time to buy swimwear. It’s the unofficial kickoff for summer and when many of us stuff our carts with lightweight fare. To find the best swimsuits on sale, I trawled through the Strategist archive to surface brands we recommend and combed through the sales bins too. The best of that search, below.
Update on May 24, 2026
I made sure all of these swimsuits are still on sale and in stock. Most end tomorrow night, so shop soon.
J.Crew

J.Crew is offering 40 percent off purchases and 50 percent off swim. That includes this ruched one-piece, which comes in nice-looking, bright shades. I’m eyeing the punchy green.

Also available, this bikini, which comes in the brand’s Sculpt fabric. It’s crafted from two layers of fabric that are woven together to offer subtle compression. I like that these are high cut and full coverage but still a little sexy.

There’s also this classic string bikini, which feels like a swim-wardrobe staple. The black one reminds me of the suit Solange was recently spotted wearing on vacation.
Lands’ End

We’re predicting that sun shirts and rash guards will be popular this swim season. This one from Lands’ End comes in lots of colors and patterns and will protect skin from the sun’s rays.

It also comes in a floral pattern.

And a quarter-zip too.
Goldie Swimwear
Goldie, which makes my favorite bikinis, is offering 30 percent off the entire site. I like the color combinations — it feels a bit retro but not gimmicky. I also like the cuts, which tend on the skimpier side, though there are fuller-coverage options too. There’s also a plethora of tankinis, which reminds me of the suits of my youth.
Old Navy

Old Navy is half off swim this weekend. It’s a good place to buy suits that’ll hold up for the long haul — I have one I bought over a decade ago that’s still serviceable. This one feels reminiscent of the much pricier Hunza G suit.

This swim dress offers lots of coverage without being frumpy.
REI

Lots of suits are on sale at REI, including the Andie Amalfi one-piece, which senior writer Lauren Ro says is one of the best suits she’s ever owned. “I don’t have to be precious with this swimsuit and find it to be reliable,” she said. It’s even held up through both of her pregnancies and postpartum too.

The Tulum, which has thicker straps and a cross-back, is also 25 percent off.

Stripes are the swim pattern du jour. This one from Lisa Says Gah! Goes up to a 3X and has adjustable straps.
Farm Rio

FarmRio is discounting sale styles and offering an additional 20 percent off when you use the code EXTRA20. I like this one-piece, which has a sweetheart neckline and structured cups.
Agua Bendita

Agua Bendita is offering an additional 10 percent off sale styles. This wine-colored one-piece is nice looking and has a braided strap detail. One thing to note is that everything is final sale, so whatever you purchase is yours to keep.
Miraclesuit

If you’re looking for something with a bit more compression, Miraclesuit is a good option. I like this two-toned strappy one-piece, which has a built-in bra and ruching across the stomach.
Abercrombie & Fitch
Abercrombie’s bathing suits often iterate on a single print across cuts. This madras pattern, for example, is available in a string top, underwire bikini, and bandeau.
Aerie
Aerie has long been a go-to for inexpensive bathing suits because the cuts are modern and they hold up well. “They’re really great quality,” says Ruby Buddemeyer, the director of copy and concept at Starface. Currently, the entire site is 30 percent off.
