Herman Miller’s wool-and-cotton-blend Girard throw blanket is now available in three new colors/patterns: a pink-and-green check that one Strategist senior editor described as “Battenberg-esque”; a brown-and-tan plaid; and pink and white stripes. Any one of them would make excellent housewarming or holiday gifts.

OmieBox Lite
We have longrecommendedOmieBox bento boxes for parents who like packing a mix of hot and cold school lunches. Now the brand has introduced a smaller (and lighter-weight) bento box without the stainless-steel thermos insert for days when a sandwich, some cucumbers, and fruit is all you need. It’s also got a secret compartment in the lid for surprise treats and little notes and a built-in ice pack under the food tray.
Mattel recently made a Barbie doll inspired by WNBA player Angel Reese, whose nickname is “Bayou Barbie.” The doll — which is is largely sold out, but keep an eye on restocks — is decked out in a pink uniform with a pink basketball, pink fingernails, a pink leg sleeve, and pink-and-white sneakers. And to go with it, Reebok is launching a matching pair of sneakers for grown-ups andkidsthat will go on sale starting Monday, August 3. There is also a human-size Angel Reese Barbie jersey available in sizes from 2XS to 6XL on Reese’s own website, plus a handful of other Barbie-themed items.
My favorite mini-and-me collections are the ones that coordinate kid and parent styles without matching perfectly. The Andie Swim x Flour Shop collaboration does this very well while also offering the option to twin. There are rainbow-striped suits for women and kids, plus several two-color options in women’s sizes — my favorite is the Laguna one-piece that is sunny yellow in front and bright orange in back.

For as long as I have beenwriting about the Toniebox, parents have been asking for a more portable version of the screen-free audio player. Now the Toniebox Lite is on the horizon and available for preorder with shipping to start in mid-August. It is approximately half the size of the Toniebox 2, $50 cheaper, and compatible with all Tonies figures as well as with Bluetooth headphones. (It cannot be used with the Tonie Play games, however.) Whether or not it’s a viable competitor for theYoto Miniremains to be seen; I’ve just started testing the two side by side.

I have long been charmed (hehe) byKelsey Armstrong’s collage-style jewelryand the community she has built around her art. So I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of her new activity book that guides readers through 20 different projects. There are instructions for making your own charms as well as adding them to knits, lampshades, and more.
I recentlyinterviewed children’s-book author and illustrator Jon Klassen, who was an absolute delight and a wealth of parenting inspiration. I was a fan before meeting him, and I am a bigger fan now. So this collaboration with Hanna Andersson featuring characters from Klassen’s bookI Want My Hat Backbrings me a lot of joy, as I am sure it will do for dozens of other parents and kids.
I am currently in the market for a new living-room rug, which is why I am so excited about Rugs USA’s very nice-looking collaboration with interior designer Nate Berkus. The collection has rich browns and greens aplenty as well as subtle plaids, florals, and even a few wiggly lines.
