The Strategist-staffer Slack channel went into shock this week when the official website for Paravel, one of our longtime favorite travel brands, was taken offline without warning. Recent customers buyingluggagefor upcoming summer tripsare reportingthat their unshipped orders have been canceled and (sadly, only in some cases) refunded. I’ve reached out to the company but am yet to hear back so far; financial records indicate that it has filed for bankruptcy.
If you’re a fan of Paravel’s retro trunks and totes and want to build out your luggage collection before supplies dwindle forever, a few third-party retailers still have items in stock. Anything shipping from an Amazon warehouse should be a safe bet, and Paravel’s products are also sold by the likes of Shopbop, FWRD, Net-a-Porter, Ssense, and Bloomingdale’s. And, as you might expect, lots of things are on sale right now. I’ve rounded up the best deals on some of our favorites below, but just note that customer care and warranty services will likely be nonexistent for this stuff, given the brand’s apparent demise.

My fellow Strategist writer Ambar Pardilla just took this tote on a two-week jaunt across Europe, alongside her Roam suitcase. And after visits to Vienna, Budapest, Milan, Porto, Lisbon, and Madrid, she says that the usefully designed bag “fared better than me when I landed at Newark Liberty.”
