Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice in which we find the best-reviewed products and single out the most convincing ones. (You can learn more about our rating system and how we pick each item here.)

And while we’ve written about the best kitchen appliances before — including microwaves, extra-long toasters, and wine coolers — here we’ve rounded up the best mini-fridges as praised by the most enthusiastic reviewers on Amazon.

Best-rated (and least expensive) mini-fridge

$88

The most mini of mini-fridges, this tiny cooler is also the only one with more than 2,000 (predominantly positive) reviews. Like writer Alison Freer, lots of reviewers actually use it to keep beauty products at an optimal temperature. Freer explains, “it’s perfect for skin care, which you want to keep cool but not frozen,” like retinoids and vitamin C that “tend to oxidize and turn brown if not kept in a continuously cool, dark place.” One reviewer calls it “a great purchase for those of us skin care diehards who are extra enough to need this.”

Of course, it’ll work for food and drinks as well. “It has been lovely not having to pause a movie to run down to the kitchen every time we need a cool drink,” says one reviewer who keeps it in the living room. “It chills quickly, too. I’ve put room-temp water bottles in there and found them cold two hours later.” Others who take it to work echo this reviewer who says, “This little fridge has been such a hit in my office!”

And now for some micro-picks for every type of mini-fridge you might be looking for.

Best standard-size mini-fridge

If you’re looking for a bigger mini-fridge, this one from Danby is an affordable reviewer favorite. “This fridge is very quiet other than when the motor starts going but even then it’s not that loud and only goes on for about a minute,” says one reviewer who uses it in her dorm room. “I got the black color and it looks very sleek.” Another reviewer writes, “I tested it out right away and not only is it really good-looking but the drinks inside were really, really cold!” And many more agree that it’s “amazingly spacious. So much fits into a small space.”

Best mini-fridge with freezer compartment

Magic Chef Refrigerator
$427

“If you’re in college or live by yourself, this fridge is perfect,” says one reviewer of this compact fridge-and-freezer combo. Lots of reviewers feel similarly to this one who was “delighted and surprised when this fridge arrived” because it’s “very well-made and spacious.” Another notes the “large amount of storage space” and is impressed by the interior light which, they say, “is very useful, and rare on this size of fridge.” Several reviewers mentioned the interior shelving, like this one who writes, “[the] racks in the doors help organize my food and drinks so well. It makes my organizationally inclined heart very happy.” Many use it as an “overflow fridge,” for food or drinks that won’t fit in their full-size refrigerator, and one reviewer says it came in handy “for extra Thanksgiving food and wine.”

Best vintage-looking mini-fridge

$850

Whether you choose mint, beige, or cherry-red, reviewers agree that this retro-style fridge “is beautiful and it fits quite a bit.” Another writes “this refrigerator is BEAUTIFUL, never thought that I would describe a refrigerator this way.” Many are fans of the “sturdy shelves and drawers on the inside,” as well as the functional freezer compartment. “We get compliments all the time,” says one reviewer, “and when you open it up and see how much room is in there, people are impressed.”

Best mini-fridge for wine

For storing wine at the perfect temperature reviewers like the “streamlined, compact design” of this wine fridge, and one reviewer explains that it’s “inexpensive, attractive, quiet, and maintains temperature.” One reviewer calls it “a must-have item for the wine connoisseur in your world,” and many small-space dwellers like that it “doesn’t take up too much space.” Plus, as this reviewer notes, it “runs almost completely silently.”
