Lucky for you, I found an updated version of our favorite affordable air conditioner on sale for $169 today — Frigidaire’s 5,000 BTU window unit. “Frigidaire has stood the test of time as having the most well-built machines,” says Jess Mastro of RentAnAc, so it’s a safe bet for any air conditioner. This one has all the same specs as the older model we recommend (it cools rooms up to 150 square feet, has a relatively quiet noise level of 52 decibels, and has 115 volts), but instead of two dials to adjust fan speed and temperature, this unit is operated by a remote control (or you can push the much more discreet buttons directly on the unit). And its small size makes it easy to install in just about any room. It was already affordably priced at $219, but today it’s $50 off, making it an especially good deal.
