We first reported this in this week’sSecret Strategistnewsletter, but I spotted these all-black Keens on Paris boutiqueRendez-Vous’s Instagramthe other day and loved how they were styled with a billowy skirt — only to realize that they’re the adult version of thesandals my kids wear. Somehow, the monochrome, tactical look registered completely differently, and now I want a pair.
They’re the brand’s original water-sandal-hiking hybrid, and they work just as well on a trail as they do on the stone-paved streets of Paris, apparently. In other words, the perfect summer sandal, one that can take you from the beach to dinner, no shoe change required.

Keen Women’s Newport H2
This designation previously belonged to the Mary-Kate Olsen Tevas Strategist senior editor Simone Kitchensfirst wrote about in 2022. The Newports are, perhaps, a podiatric improvement on the Voya Infinities in that they provide more coverage and traction. Practical yet stylish in that gorpy way (the bungee laces are key).
We’re already fans of Keen’s Jasper sneakers — worn by no fewer than three Strategist staffers — and the Newports seem like the natural seasonal progression for proponents of awkward-chic footwear.
