Founded in 1997 as a mail-order pajama company based in rural Wales, in the nearly three decades since,Toast’s whimsical yet practical takes on workwear, knits, and home goods have worked their way into the wardrobes and houses of designers and artists all over the world, includingrenowned interior designer Max Rollittand our own team ofSecret Strategistwriters and editors.

What makes Toast’s designs so enduring — many of the styles return every season or year in different colors and fabrics, sometimes even in the same ones — is the quality of the materials and the craftsmanship as well as their classic shapes. Senior writer Lauren Ro loves the many sweaters she’s bought for her husband over the years; senior editor Winnie Yang owns and regularly wears several pairs of pants, a few tops, and a waxed cotton raincoat; and deputy editor Simone Kitchens has a wool coat from the brand and is a fan of its patterned bedding. “The clothes have a kind of grace and simplicity to them that make you feel and look good without trying too hard,” says Yang. “But they also don’t look generic: They’re always tasteful and always recognizable as Toast.”

Toast just launched anew collectionofloungewearfor spring/summer 2026, a sort of tribute to the brand’s beginnings. While the pieces are technically called “loungewear,” we’d wear them to work or out to dinner: They include the Freya dress, a design with a relaxed silhouette that has regularly returned since its initial release in 2016; cotton-linen and striped alpaca sweaters; and fine-wale corduroy tops and bottoms for men and women, all in elegant neutrals. We’ve partnered with Toast to give oneSecret Strategistreader their choice of a set — which includes a top (shirt or sweater) and a bottom (pants or skirt) — or a single dress from the new collection. (Tops and bottoms can be mixed and matched from the men’s and women’s lines.) This prize package will have a retail value of around $600.
