Youswim Makes the Most Comfortable Swimsuits I’ve Ever Worn

I first discovered Youswim in 2023. A friend I met when we were both new moms had the Youswim Poise swimsuit in black and raved about wearing it throughout her pregnancy all the way up to the week before her son was born. After she gave birth, she continued to wear the one-piece more than any other suit — even while breastfeeding — as her body changed and adjusted. Her high praise was one of the things that prompted me to testcrinkle swimsuitsfrom five different brands, including the Poise from Youswim. Since then, the brand has remained a favorite of stylish women looking for comfortable and forgiving swimwear that stretches to meet bodies at their current size rather than compressing them into something tighter or smaller.
I still wear my Poise suit and love how free it makes me feel; the sensation is more like wearing underwear than a traditional swimsuit. But it has no boob support to speak of, and the sturdy elastic edge of the neckline further flattens my already small bosom. So as part ofthe Strategist Swimsuit Project, I tried as many other swimsuits from Youswim as I could get my hands on. In the end, I tested six swimsuits, including three one-pieces, two bikinis, and aswim romper.

My least favorite
The Eva one-piece could use more support
I was excited to test this V-neck one-piece with its low back and full-coverage yet cheeky-looking rear. I love the red-wine color that I got, which the brand calls “garnet,” but unfortunately, the design of the straps and the lack of an inner shelf bra or padded cups flattened my boobs even more than the Poise. Because of this, it wasn’t very comfortable to wear and I worried about my boobs popping out while swimming.
Youswim’s crinkle fabric is very stretchy but also soft to the touch, a fantastic combination, but it stretches in all directions — including down from the tops of my shoulders to the crotch — effectively dragging my breasts down with it. If I had a bigger bust or hadn’t spent three years breastfeeding my son, this suit would probably fit me very differently; I need a bit more upward lift. Everything else about the Eva is great. It has a good amount of coverage in the back, and the color gives my skin a nice glow. I really liked how it looks on the Youswim model, so I’m pretty disappointed that it doesn’t look like that on me.

The ones I liked despite some flaws
The Poise one-piece is a solid suit with convienently adjustable straps
Though I started out looking for a Youswim bathing suit to replace the Poise, I still prefer it to the Eva one-piece. Its biggest advantage is that the straps are adjustable, allowing me to customize the fit of the chest. And the elastic edge on the square neckline holds the fabric up more. My Poise is an older version of the style that I’ve had for a couple years now, and I wonder if the brand has made any tweaks in that time. It is a full-coverage suit with a back that is almost as high as its front. I have it in black, but if I were to buy one again, I would probably go for the dark-brown “espresso” color.

Youswim Poise
The Eva two-piece is the opposite of the Eva one-piece, with the most supportive top
Of all the bathing suits I tried from Youswim, I got the most support from the top on the Eva two-piece. It still stretches a lot, but because it has a bottom seam underneath, it’s more like wearing a bra and it pushes my boobs up rather than pulling them down. It’s very comfortable, and I like the wide straps. I just wish there was a touch more fabric — and maybe I should have sized up. The bottoms offer lots of coverage, however, and have a nice shape, even though I do feel like they accentuate my belly in a way that I don’t love. It’s convenient to be able to buy a bikini as a set, but in this case, I might have preferred the option to mix and match the Eva top with a pair of higher-waisted bottoms.

The winners
The Lo Romper is extremely comfy to wear and has adjustable, convertible straps
This swimsuit feels the least like a swimsuit of all the ones I tested. It is a deep shade of navy called “midnight” that I love. Because it’s aromper— a one-piece that ends in shorts — there are very few seams. It hugs my body and does not pinch or dig into any part of my waist or hips or thighs, the way boyshort bikini bottoms often do. The adjustable spaghetti straps and square top are similar to the top of the Poise one-piece; the straps are also convertible, so you can wear them straight or crisscrossed in the back.
I don’t think the Lo is the sexiest swimsuit I’ve ever worn because it doesn’t have any kind of compression and doesn’t really create much of a waist. But for years, I’ve looked for a suit that felt like underwear, and the Lo is the closest I’ve found. It truly feels like you are naked. The least flattering part of it is the butt because of how it’s just one big rectangle. But it’s just so comfortable. And it also works as a bodysuit for anyone looking for one that has soft, stretchy boy shorts on the bottom.

The Aplomb one-piece is a nice mix of classic, sexy, and comfortable
The Aplomb is the most classic swimsuit of the bunch and my favorite one-piece. I tested it in black, which I think is very chic and nice-looking, but I am also very intrigued by the baby-pink and espresso-brown colors. It has a high leg and wide straps and a sexy low back. It still pulls my boobs down a little bit and doesn’t have a shelf bra or padding inside. But it is as comfortable as the Poise and my husband said he likes it the best — much better than the Lo romper, which he called “old-fashioned.” It also makes my butt look better than the Poise or the Romper thanks to the more modern cut.

The Una may have converted me into an asymmetrical-swimsuit fan
Just as I surprised myself when I tried on the asymmetrical one-piece swimsuit fromLeft on Friday, I was surprised by how much I loved Youswim’s Una bikini. The single strap frames my shoulders in a sporty, sexy way, and the top has a lot more support than the one-pieces I tried while still stretching a ton. I like the green color a lot but would have also loved this suit in the black, brown, or garnet. Despite the “high waist” promise in the product name, the bottoms are not super-high-waisted, so they show off my belly button a little bit. However, they still offer a lot of coverage and made my butt look nice. I wore this suit to the beach and to swim with my son in a kiddie pool and never felt worried about the top moving at all. I will keep wearing it all summer.
