A few days ago, Food52, which includes the Strategist-favorite brands Schoolhouse and Dansk, announced it was filing for bankruptcy. Very sad news, yes — though the silver lining is that it is offering some truly deep (like previously unheard-of) discounts on a good number of items. I love this small saucepan, which is a mere one quart. It’s slightly bigger than the brand’s beloved butter warmer (sadly sold out), but can be used for many of the same tasks: melting butter and chocolate, making sauces and compotes, reheating broth and coffee, warming milk, and more. It has a pour spout and a lid, which prevents evaporation and reduction if those are not the goal. There are only three colors still available (sunny yellow, cornflower blue, and forest green), but they are all lovely. It’s the kind of piece you’ll want to leave on your stovetop and — made even more so by the fact that these will no longer be in production — the kind of piece you’ll want to pass down.
