Gap Just Relaunched Its ’90s Fragrances. I Tried Them All.

This is my favorite scent in the line. From the first spritz, it smells like freshly done laundry: very clean and bright. It’s beautifully balanced with floral notes of jasmine, bright citrus notes, and the perfect amount of musky neroli. It’s the classicwhite T-shirtof scents, meaning I can see myself wearing this every day and somehow never getting tired of it. Since getting samples, I’ve been reaching for it over my usualAriana Grande Cloud Eau de Parfum; this feels similar but a tad more sophisticated.

Grass is another favorite. Like Dream, it’s a fresh, clean scent (the opening citrus notes are very prominent), but it’s cut with matcha and cedar notes at the heart and base that make it feel earthier and more grounded. If Dream is the white-tee equivalent, this is that but right after spending an afternoon lying out at Prospect Park, grass stains and all. It’s bright and energizing, like springtime.

Om is the most subtle fragrance of the five. You have to lean in to smell it, but it does draw people in. (Of all the scents, this was the one my boyfriend complimented me on the most.) It’s the most sensual scent of the bunch, since it’s woody, musky, and mixed with the inviting warmness of ginger, amber, and sandwood. This is another I could see myself wearing frequently and not overwhelming my senses with. It reminds me ofGlossier’s You, with that your-scent-but-better feel, but deeper and richer.

Heaven surprised me. I’m usually not into gourmands, but this was an exception. It opens with warm notes of vanilla and amber and is rounded out by lighter floral notes and skinlike musks. There’s a coziness to it that I could see myself spritzing on in the fall or winter months, but it’s not something I’d reach for off the bat. There’s no doubt that it’s a sweet scent, but it doesn’t lean too saccharine. It’s a more grown-up dessert, like bananas Foster as opposed to a banana split.

This is the sweetest fragrance in the line with a fruity, effervescent, and almost gummy-bear-like scent. Even though Harmony is brand new to the Gap line, it’s the most nostalgic for me. It brought me back to my local mall; it’s reminiscent of theBath & Body Worksand Victoria’s Secretbody mistsI’d save up for as a teen. While I enjoyed the trip down memory lane, this one did step into saccharine territory. I truly hope the next generation of mall rats carries the torch with this one.
