Although not every gadget gets a discount onPrime Day,Kindlesalways do — so much so that I often tell people to wait for these promotions to buy ane-reader. This year’s no different: For day two of Prime Day, the latest Kindle Paperwhite,Scribe Colorsoft, and standard Kindle are all still significantly discounted. The Paperwhite provides the best experience thanks to a waterproof design and more customizable lighting, the standard Kindle is smaller and more portable, and the Scribe has a stylus that allows you to take notes while you read.
I’ve also seen some major discounts on non-Amazon e-readers, including theKobo Libra Colour, which is sort of like a smaller Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. And for those who want something even more portable, there’s the tiny Xteink X3 and X4 e-readers. They are smaller than an iPhone — they even have MagSafe magnets to connect to the back of one — and have enough battery life to last over a week. Unlike Kindles and other e-readers we recommend, they don’t have touchscreens, but that’s a fair trade-off for a reader you can tuck inside your wallet.

This is one of my favorite e-readers to date. Though the display, which supports stylus input, is big enough for highlighting and taking notes, the e-reader is still portable enough to drop in a bag orfanny pack.

It’s rare to find an e-reader as cheap as $55, let alone one that’s actually good. I’ve been carrying the tiny X4 in my wallet for the last month or so, and it’s worth every penny. It doesn’t have a backlight or touch screen, but for the price, you won’t miss them.

While the X4 is quite small, the X3 is even smaller — it can fit on the back of an iPhone 17 Pro. It’s on sale, too, but do note that unlike the X4, which uses USB-C for charging, this one requires a proprietary cable.
