We’re also big fans of the cooling Leesa Legend Chill Hybrid mattress — so much so that I named it the best cooling mattress overall. Senior editor Crystal Martin says the gel grid in the mattress provides a slight suspension that makes her feel like she’s floating and keeps her cool. If you prefer an extra-firm feel, consider the Avocado Green Extra Firm. According to senior editor Simone Kitchens — our residentfirm-mattressconnoisseur — this one is easily the firmest she’s ever tried. While it offers spine-straightening support, Kitchens says the organic-cotton cover still makes it cozy. It’s 15 percent off for Labor Day.

Also on sale is our favorite less-expensive latex hybrid, the Avocado Eco Organic. Writer Kitty Guo says it has a medium feel and good support for people with lighter builds. That, combined with a budget-friendly price, could make it a nice option for older kids or teens, too.

If you like a mattress made completely of latex foam, consider the Saatva Zenhaven. Best foam mattresses on sale for Labor Day
