New Stuff Alert: Blundstone Is Making Sandals Now
For this week’s “Don’t Dillydally,” we’ve rounded up a range of newly released products we’re particularly excited about, including Stakt’s nice-looking weighted vest, anti-aging hand cream from Typology, and Blundstone’s first stab at sandals.
I’m surprised these two classic American brands haven’t collaborated in the past, but I am delighted they finally did. The J.Crew x Lee collection includes items for men, women, and kids and is primarily made up of denim, with a few western-inspired pieces sprinkled in. There are corduroy-collared denim jackets and straight-leg jeans for everyone, pinstripe and butter-yellow button-downs for men, kids’ overalls, and a perfect knee-length denim skirt in blue or white for women.

POSCA’s paint markers are a Strategist favorite for tweens and creative adults. Now the brand is expanding into other art supplies. The pencils are made with a creamy wax-hybrid formula for easy blending and can be used on multiple surfaces, just like the markers.

Blundstone launched its lightweight Aerocork collection today, featuring the first sandal the brand has ever made. (The line also includes a wedge-soled clog and a Chelsea boot.) I am a longtime Blundstone boot wearer and have been wearing the original clogs as my main indoor shoe since I got them several months ago. So while the three-strap, one-buckle design has a slight orthopedic lilt, I am nevertheless excited to try it out. They are available in three colors: rustic black, rustic brown, and sand suede.

In other shoe news, Kaia Gerber made two pairs — a ballet flat and a heeled mary jane — with Repetto. I think totally flat ballet flats are hard to style, but these have a nice little block heel. They come in four colors: flame red, Pommard red, navy, and black. The mary janes (named after Pina Bausch) remind me of jazz, tap, and flamenco dance shoes. They are made of Nappa calfskin and come in black or deep wine red.

Completing this week’s new-shoe trifecta, Redwing’s heritage division just launched the Carrier, inspired by leather oxfords worn by mail carriers of yore. It’s designed with a more feminine silhouette, a cushy wedge sole, and smooth semi-matte leather.

I don’t own a weighted vest, but this one looks nice enough to make me think about trying one. It’s adjustable from six to eight pounds and has a zip-off washable liner to help with eventual sweat smells. Plus the narrow ribbing makes it seem less like tactical gear.

If the tortoiseshell headband you ran out to buy after watching Love Story is giving you a headache, this CBK-inspired wedding-ring pendant necklace is a worthy alternative.

Sunglasses collaborations are nothing new, but this one from California brands Doên and Garrett Leight stands out for its casual glamour and Japanese craftsmanship. The two cat-eye styles — the Doyenne and the Ingenue — are inspired by French singers and movie stars from the ’60s and ’70s. They are slightly oversize and come in four colors: black, classic tortoiseshell, Bordeaux red, and caramel brown.

Bonpoint is too expensive for me at full price. But if I were to buy anything from the French luxury kids’ brand, it would be from this recent collaboration that is already starting to sell out. My son is a fan of any and all vehicles, so I think I could convince him to wear the T-shirt with a yellow Porsche 911 printed on it.

Typology’s new anti-aging hand cream is made in France with ingredients like arginine PCA and niacinamide to target dry, mature skin. The idea is to hydrate while addressing concerns like dark spots and wrinkles; the cream is fragrance-free but has a slight almond scent thanks to plant-based ingredients like plum oil. I also like that the packaging is beautiful and mostly not plastic.

Drowsy, the brand that makes our top-pick sleep mask, launched a Sex and the City–inspired collection this week (which conveniently coincides with the Strategist’s Sleep Better Week). There are ruffle-trimmed silk eye masks and pillowcases, as well as scrunchies fit for a Manhattan princess.

And for our slickback-loving friends, Oribe launched a new hair stick that adds shine while fighting stubborn flyaways.
