On My Mind: Butter-Yellow Everything and Electrical-Stimulation Straps

The brand also has a branch on Orchard Street in New York, where I lived during my time in grad school at NYU. I love the cut of this cropped tank, which is made with nontoxic dye and Egyptian cotton.

San Diego–based Noble is another sustainable label I’ve been wanting to try, and its tank suit launched just this month.

When we felt too old to play with Groovy Girls, my sister and I turned to Polly Pocket mini-dolls. We had a huge bin full of their squishy, color-blocked outfits, so I was thrilled to see Lisa Says Gah’s recent collab with Polly Pocket, featuring this cheerful jacket with heart-shaped pockets.

I’ve been testingPrequel’s buzzy Gleanserall over my face and body —so far I’m finding it super-silky and non-stripping with a similar feel to my pricieriS Clinical Cleansing Complex. After getting a HydraFacial last month, I finally caved and decided to go big (i.e., spend big) on my skin-care regimen. My birthday is in May, so I’m calling it an early gift to myself. The esthetician I saw recommended this retinol night cream, and after reading that three of our resident beauty expertsstand by this Skinbetterproduct, I knew I was making the right decision. I started by using it every other day for two weeks, but now I use it every night. I swear it has already smoothed the static lines on my forehead, and my skin is so much brighter.

Speaking of brightness, I purchased this highlighter balm during the Sephora sale along with a bunch of other Haus Labs products. I can already tell it’s going to be a hero for me this summer. (P.S. I wrote about Firefly Recovery in ourgift guide for runners, but I’m mentioning it here, too, because you don’t have to be a runner to benefit from this technology. These are super-packable straps that create muscle contractions in the lower leg to increase blood flow and flush out lactic acid. You can use them on long-haul flights or to recover from a long day on your feet. I put them on while I’m working from home or relaxing on the couch, and they help with lingering muscle soreness.

I was sent these performance socks, and I really like the idea behind them. They were created for runners and cyclists so you don’t have to own different socks for whichever endurance poison you pick each day. They offer nice compression but feel super breathable. I also appreciate the cushy area across the top of the foot that prevents the dreaded lace bite caused by tying my running shoes too tight.

I typically use a foam roller to stretch my back after exercise, but while researching recovery tools, I discovered this funky device,and it’s now at the top of my list to try out soon. I guess it’s commonly used in Pilates studios, and it seems like the same concept as rolling out on a lacrosse ball. But the Spinefitter has 28 interconnected balls to target tension and improve alignment. You can even use it to stretch your feet or to work on ankle mobility.
