To be an editor at the Strategist in the week leading up to Mother’s Day is to receive any number of last-minute texts from friends, Slack messages from co-workers, even emails from cousins or siblings, all asking the same thing: “What do I get my mom this year?” Because we’re professionals who take pleasure in finding the things you never knew you needed, we usually have a few recommendations, no matter what type of mom you have — and next week, those of you in New York will be able to take advantage of the same service we provide our friends, family, and readers, just in time for Mother’s Day.
From May 7 to 10 (Monday through Thursday), the Strategist will be popping into two WeWork locations in Manhattan with a selection of some of our all-time-favorite Mother’s Day gifts, from the cheap and practical (like a chic cookbook stand or a fancy British toothpaste) to the splurgy (like a Diptyque car diffuser and the next status hand soap). We’ll have samples of everything to test out, but if there’s nothing that seems like a fit, Strategist editors will be on standby, ready to give personalized recommendations for the hard-to-shop-for moms (or anyone else, really). Think of it as Ask the Strategist, IRL.
Strategist editors will be at the WeWork Grand Central on Monday from 9am to 11am and 12pm to 2pm and Tuesday from 12pm to 2pm and 5pm to 7pm. We’ll be at the Tribeca location on Wednesday from 9am to 11am and 12pm to 2pm and Thursday from 12pm to 2pm and 5pm to 7pm, and the event is open to the public even if you’re not a WeWork member.
