We Hosted a Packing Competition With Away
On Tuesday night, the Strategist went over to the Away store in Williamsburg for a packing extravaganza. After giving a short demonstration about the best ways to pack a suitcase — we’re fans of organized packing cubes and Away’s double-buckle compression pad actually lets you shove a ton in there — we helped host a packing competition alongside influencer and former Miss New York Taryn Delanie Smith. In five heats of four people each, contestants had to pack a suitcase full of clothes in under four minutes (harder than you think) and then have their final product judged on its organization, aesthetics, and use of space. The competition was fierce! But after nearly an hour of competitive packing, one very organized speed demon took home the grand prize: an Away suitcase for her, an Away suitcase for a friend, and a winter wardrobe from J.Crew.
Turns out it’s also just generally a great time to buy something from Away (for yourself or as a great gift) because the whole site is 25 percent off, which happens to be the company’s biggest sale of the year.
