I just want to be comfortable and not think about what to wear, so I’m eyeing a couple of things I can rely on as a uniform this spring and summer. I think ruching on children’s clothing is so sweet, and I’m always looking for ruching on something for me. This Banana Republic dress incorporates it into the skirt, giving an otherwise simple brown dress a bit of flair. The open back is another nice touch.

I bought a couple of these bowls last year in blue and light green, and they are so gorgeous and the perfect size for soups, stews, and yogurt parfaits. I would love to add two more to the collection so that each member of the family has one.

I would also love a set of these glass insulated mugs for my coffee, which I sip over the course of the morning. As the comedian George Civerisrecently told us, you don’t actually need an electronic warming tumbler to keep your beverages hot.

I would like for someone else to do the houseplant chores I have been putting off, namely repotting/fertilizing/refreshing the soil. I’d also like everyone to leave the house for a full day (or whole weekend) while I clean and throw things away without them, then to take me out to dinner and for the kids to observe a “no fighting” rule while we are there. Related to the aforementioned houseplant chore, though: I have been targeted with many an Instagram ad for this brand Happy Happy Houseplant, and I am extremely intrigued by the promise that its Hydration Renew product is a “repot in a bottle.” Ditto for theSoil Refresh; can I possibly get away with not repotting after all?

Or a coin pendant from Hart with “Bitter End” inscribed (it’s a joke my husband made once, whose sentiment I now hold so dear).

Nearly two decades ago, when my then boyfriend (now husband) and I were buying our first-ever bedding, he casually mentioned that he dislikes florals. I committed this fact to memory and, despite loving them, have avoided them in our home since. But recently when I brought it up, he looked at me like I was mildly insane and told me he really doesn’t care one way or the other about florals. Our current boring white duvet cover is falling apart and I’m ready for this flowery upgrade.

My mom died ten years ago and I always think of other motherless moms on Mother’s Day. So I try to senda little treatwhen I can, especially on that first motherless Mother’s Day, which arguably sucks the most. Even on sad days, chocolate is a pleasure. Läderach is one of my favorite purveyors. I love its bark the most, and it’s fitting, because my mom was obsessed with dark-chocolate almond bark. I think any mom would be delighted by this assortment.

At this year’s Outsider Art Fair, I was gobsmacked by Paige Donovan’s brightly colored embroidered landscapes at theCenter for Creative Worksbooth. They are vivid and joyful and they made me want to run home and draw. I couldn’t rationalize buying one that day, but I would be thrilled to receive one as a gift.

Lastly, I need a new weekend kids’ bag. Our current is an ancient LeSportsac, and I feel like one with a zipper that isn’t too heavy — the canvas ones get heavy fast, especially when toting around two fullwater bottles— would be nice.
