We’re getting down to the wire as Christmas fast approaches, so my shopping is pretty much completely focused on gifting at this point — for both myself and others. No matter how early I start, there’s always that last-minute scramble. Relatedly, it was pointed out to me by more than one friend that myChristmas wish listwas perhaps a tad bit expensive. What can I say? I like what I like. But to prove my haters wrong, I have decided to present the more affordable desires on my wish list this year, in hopes that it may also help anyone else out there who still needs to cross a few people off their list.

At a press dinner not too long ago, I was sat next to Lisa Lok, who does design at Dossier. At the end of the meal, when we did the obligatory IG handle exchange, she passed off her phone, which was covered in this wonderfully blobby, tactile case. According to the brand, it’s “inspired by ancient Venus sculptures, rock-climbing holds, and Henry Moore sculptures,” and acts as both a stand and a grip. Get it for the friend, like me, who is trying to prevent carpal tunnel.

Ever since a bag of potpourri was exchanged at theStrategist’s gifting party, I haven’t been able to get it out of my head. And these terra-cotta jars from Santa Maria Novella makes it feel even fancier.

All fall, I wore a pair ofcow-printed Adidas Rasants. They really turn heads. In fact, a UPS delivery driver actually chased me down the street to ask me what they were. Tragically, because they’re pony hair, I really have to baby them, so I’m hoping to get a second all-black pair for harder wearing as we head into deep winter. Not as fun, but also not as easily stained.

Speaking of shoes, the only pair I’ve gotten even more compliments on are these ballerina flats. I’ve been wearing these to every holiday function I’ve attended these past few weeks and they always get a big reaction. Someone at theNew YorkMag holiday party said they looked like “something Mrs. Claus would wear — in a good way,” and they served as a great prop during my rendition ofThe Christmas Shoesat my cookie-decorating/karaoke party. Nobody believes that they’re UGG, which is a bonus in my book. And they’re super comfortable, so if you need a pair of festive footwear you can dance all night in, these are it.

Trend-prediction alert! Over Thanksgiving, I went to an antique mall with my mom and spied two antique silver coin purses. I immediately had a vision of hanging one to the outside of a pocket book, but held off on buying it because I had a strong feeling my mom, an excellent gifter in her own right, had a plan to go back for it to surprise me on Christmas morning. (I learned everything I know about gift-giving from her, after all. We shall see if my prediction holds true.) After that, I saw them appear on not one buttwodifferent gift guides, so I suggest buying now while the eBay prices are still low.

Spiritually related to the coin purses above are these fun ceramic tea-light sconces. I want one very badly for my bedroom. They’re all sold-out now, so you have to get in right when they drop, which seems to be monthly.

I should’ve bought these Grinch-green gloves when I first saw them to go with my brown fox-fur cape that I bought off Paloma Elsesser during her closet sale earlier this year. I didn’t, and now they are sold out in my size. If you have a dainty hand, learn from my mistakes.
