On My Mind: The Big-Ticket Items I’m Putting on My Registry

After getting engaged in February, my fiancé and I have already picked a date and started to plan our wedding. I’m keeping most of the ceremony and reception details close to the chest — we also hired a wedding planner — but being a bride-to-be has really got me thinking about our dream (as in, somewhat unrealistic)wedding registry.
We don’t have Champagne flutes right now, and I’ve had my eye on this Sophie Lou Jacobsen set, which reminds me of tulips in bloom. We already own some Jono Pandolfi bowls in the Toasted finish, and I’d love to use the sturdy serving platter set for hosting. My fiancé and I both really enjoy sourdough, and I’ve heard great things about the brand Sourhouse and its tools for simplifying sourdough baking. I also have my eye on Rorra’s countertop system. We live north of Pittsburgh, and I’ve found our tap water to beextremelychlorine-y compared to other places I’ve lived, so the filter bundle would really put my mind at ease. (We watchedThe Plastic Detox —which is about the impact of plastic and chemicals on health and fertility — on Netflix and it freaked us out.)
As we attempt to lower the plastic levels in our house, I’m curious about the Brewer from SimplyGoodCoffee, which has a stainless-steel boiler and no plastic or aluminum touching water. Like most automatic espresso machines out there, the Terra Kaffe TK-02 has some BPA-free plastic components, but the design is pretty sleek and the thousands of drink combos it can make sounds pretty intriguing. While poking around on Reddit, I learned that many folks think a fire-rated safe is a must-have registry item, and Mycube offers a few large (and nice-looking) floor safe options. Finally, as a hobby gardener, I have my eye on Celtic Farm’s gardening apron and Gardenheir’s handsome harvesting trug.

In other news, we adopted a rescue puppy, Georgie (named after George Harrison), recently. Georgie, who’s a basset-hound mix, has been getting along so well with our other dog, Ringo, who’s also a basset hound. I love that we now have two out of four of the Beatles in our home! We’ve been taking Georgie to puppy kindergarten, and the trainer recommended a slip lead to help her learn how to walk politely on leash. It’s been a game-changer. This pink one is easy to adjust, very lightweight for a small pup, and it has girly heart details.

I always slip on my fiancé’s Lululemon SwayDay Mule when I’m running out the door (contributor Katie Stone named them the winner on herhunt for non-hideous recovery shoes). The brand recently dropped the more gorpy ZenMode Mule, and I love that the elastic heel strap can be folded down to create a slide. The footbed is very supportive and the rubber outsole is rugged with great traction on wet sidewalks.

I’m obsessed with Caraway’s battery-free timer. It’s compact, adds some retro charm to our countertop, and just takes a quick wind-up to start. I’ve been using it when I’m roasting chicken in the oven or making frozen treats for our dogs.

I’ve been looking for a sleek bag that I can use as my carry-on and will fit under the seat in front of me. Right out of the box, Quince’s Triple Compartment Weekender did not disappoint. The leather is very soft, and the bag has tons of pockets: two outer zipper compartments and one large center compartment, which features three drop-in pockets and another zippered pocket. It also has a trolley sleeve that fits over my rolling luggage handle.
