Price Hikes Have Already Come for Bedding

While doing my monthly price-stock check on our roundup ofthe best comfortersthis morning, I noticed that several products went up in price. Price increases do happen from time to time, of course — I keep a running spreadsheet that tracks such changes — but to have three out of ten items get more expensive over the course of just two and a half weeks is something else. You can probably chalk it up to thetariff news. Bedding is not cheap, and as Dusen Dusen’s Ellen Van Dusen and Morrow’s Stephanie Clearytold senior writer Emma Wartzman, the U.S. simply doesn’t have the infrastructure to manufacture sheets here. As a result, things will get more expensive, and some brands are already hiking up costs. Below, three comforters and a set of sheets — all products I stand by — that just got a little pricier (and might continue to go up).

Target’s queen-size, all-season-weight down comforter from in-house brand Casaluna, a great budget-friendly option for people who want down without the hefty price tag, went up $11 since March 25.

Dewoolfson’s plush comforters are made in the U.S. with down sourced from Hungary, Poland, and Eastern Europe and textiles from Germany and Austria. All down is washed, sorted, and filled to order here. The last time I checked, the price of its lightest weight cambric down comforter in queen was $659. It’s currently on sale for 20 percent off its new price of $710.
