The Best V-Neck Is a High V-Neck
Like Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag admired Andrew Scott’s Hot Priest’s neck, I find myself similarly thinking about the high V-neck. It does for the base of the throat what a scoopneck does for the middle of the chest, and while a V-neck emphasizes a well-tended décolletage, the high V-neck highlights the sinews of the neck. It’s this hint of skin — which is baring rather than naked — that makes me think the best V-neck is a high V-neck.
If there’s a neckline index, it seems high V-necks are on the up. Like a game of Where’s Waldo?, I can’t stop seeing them. First at Gigi Hadid’s Guest in Residence, with the now sold-out V. Next at Khaite. Then Jordan Bickham on Liana Satenstein’s Instagram, and an installment of Emilia Petrarca’s Shop Rat. They even appeared in creative director Dario Vitale’s new Versace, including Look #3, Look #5, Look #9, Look #11, and Look #42 of his first S/S 2026 presentation. I don’t think they’re going anywhere, either. Here are more high V-necks that are on my mind.
