What Chloe Fineman Can’t Live Without

I’ve always wanted to be French and consider myself French spiritually. A couple years ago, I found myself following, like, a hundred French women online, and they were all wearing these shoes. Now I wear them constantly. They’re so comfortable. You can dress them up or dress them down. The cherry-red ones with jeans and a vintage tee, or a little blouse, look so good. I also wear them with dresses a lot — a summer dress or a skirt. They just make everything you’re wearing look a little more put together and fun.

I’m a really dehydrated person, and this actually moisturizes my skin. I started using it last summer. I was working on a movie,Father of the Bride,and the makeup artist was always giving me shit for how dehydrated I was. Lovingly giving me shit — I don’t want to be mean to my makeup artist. But when I started using the Augustinus Bader, she was like, “Wow, you must be drinking so much more water.” Which was a lie, so it must mean that the moisturizer was working.

One of my favorite breakfasts is an English muffin, so I need a good toaster. I have a red one of these in L.A., where my boyfriend lives, and a white one in New York. I use it every day. I know there are fancy toasters where you can make grilled cheese, but I don’t need that. I just want functional toasting, and I think this is the best one. It’s also nice because I think Smeg fridges are amazing, but I’m not gonna spend that amount of money on a fridge. The toaster gives the quality of a Smeg lifestyle in a tiny appliance. In quarantine when my boyfriend and I were fighting a lot, any time we got into horrible fights, I’d be like, “Well, I’m taking the toaster.”

It’s not a cheap lamp, but it’s not that expensive. And by your bed, it just creates a beautiful glow. I’m gonna be gross — I’ve got a purple one in New York and a yellow one in L.A. My New York palette is a soft lavender and cream and then in L.A., it’s like marigold and rust and bright red. I have more color, more fun stuff in L.A. I am passionate about design — I always say that I want to have a hotel, called the Chlotel, full of beautiful plush rugs, chairs with tassels on the bottom, a velvet sofa. Lots of crown molding.

I have to carry my laptop with me always, and this is a perfect laptop bag. It’s very sturdy and a little cheeky and a little funny, which I always like in a tote. It’s big, so I use it when I have to carry a dress for Saturday or a pair of heels. It can carry a shocking amount of stuff. Kule also makes the best socks ever. My boyfriend steals them.

I moved back toNew Yorkto be nearZabar’s. It’s an institution. It brings me so much joy. I wear my Zabar’s hat all the time; my best friend wears his Zabar’s hat; people in L.A. wear their Zabar’s T-shirts. I’ve got the mugs. It just brings a lot of happiness. My order is a Dr. Brown’s diet cream soda. I’m unhealthy — I like diet soda. And I’ll get their lox bagel but then usually confuse the man making the bagel ’cause I’m lactose intolerant and I ask for it without cream cheese. And then he is like, “What’s wrong with you?” And just having that exchange makes the bagel taste better.

I’m wearing mine right now as we speak. They’re just really well made. The plastic is really heavy — they don’t break; they don’t stretch in the heat. I like sturdy sunglasses, and I just think they are very flattering. While filmingFather of the Bride, I was in Miami and went to a sunglasses place. The guy in the store said that a lot of designer sunglasses are all made in the same factory and that they’ve gone down in quality. And I think he was trying to just sell me these sunglasses, but I believed him and it worked. They’re amazing.

My hair goes through a lot of wear and tear being onSNLand just being an actor in general. I’m under a wig cap usually on Friday and Saturday. My hair is put in pin curls with bobby pins and then a wig cap and then a headband under the wig. So it’s a lot. And then sometimes the wig is glued to my head and has to be taken off. So I definitely look for stuff that’s just super-conditioning, and I’ve found[working with] Pantene to be amazing. I’ve used it literally since I was 10 years old. It just makes your hair buttery. A true lifesaver.
