Staying cool may not be top of mind at the moment, but an actually effective cooling mattress is so pleasant when it’s hot. And the Tempur-LuxeBreeze is one of the more effective cooling foam mattresses I’ve ever tried — on top of being extremely comfortable to sleep on. It’s expensive, so I’d take advantage of a sale, even if the discount isn’t large.

The Purple Mattress - Queen
I spent several months sleeping on the Purple mattress last year and also found it to be a good cooling option. The GelFlex grid layer stays cool and seems to allow for lots of airflow at the surface. That grid also gives the Purple a uniquely buoyant feel — I felt like it was contoured around me, but without the “swallowing” feel of memory foam. The queen size is currently $200 and, like the Purple RestorePremier Hybrid, comes with a $300 gift credit. Amazon has the same discount now, sans gift credit.
