As someone withfine hair, but a lot of it, I consider myself a connoisseur when it comes tothickeningand volumizingshampoos. In my experience, they work in one of two ways: Either they cleanse so well that your hair feels light, airy, and full of bounce, or they coat each strand to plump things up and create the illusion of density (and sometimes these tend to make my hair feel too heavy).
For me, theVegamour Uplift Volumizing Shampooleans more into that first category but also includes some plumping that doesn’t weigh down my fine strands. I received a sample recently and gave it a whirl because my hair, overdue for a haircut, had been feeling particularly flat at the root. It works into a nice lather considering it’s made with gentle surfactants and plant-based cleansing agents. (I know lather is more of a sensorial effect, but still — it’s one that I enjoy in a shampoo.)
What I like most is that it doesn’t rely on heavy coating ingredients to create volume. Aside from gentle cleansers, it uses lightweight, plant-based ingredients, such as rice protein and arrowroot, to subtly support volume while keeping hair soft and touchable. Instead of that stiff, product-y feel I get from somevolumizing shampoos, my hair feels clean and genuinely bouncy. And the subtle citrusy floral scent is a nice bonus.
Uplift has earned a regular spot in my shampoo rotation, which means I’ll alternate with mydandruff shampoowhen I have a flare-up or whatever I’m testing at the moment. I’ll especially reach for it on days when I have an event and want my hair to have more body and bounce.
