Assembling This Foam Bed Frame Is As Easy As Putting on a Fitted Sheet

I’m the type to get up several times a night, whether to tend to my daughter or use the bathroom. On too many occasions, I’ve stubbed my toe on a rigidbed frameor grazed my hand against a cold headboard. It was enough to jolt me awake and keep me from falling back asleep easily. So I started a hunt for a soft frame and wide side rail to stash my stuff. What I initially found was either out of my budget or needed to be built from scratch — the only search result that piqued my interest was from SoftFrame Designs, which makes plush bed frames coated in a five-inch layer of CertiPUR-US-certified foam that you don’t need to walk on eggshells around. The arrangement is BYOBS (bring your own box spring), and then you simply slide the bed frame over it for a plusher feel to your bedroom.
I’ve been through my fair share ofbed frames. What they all had in common were strong and severe corners and edges contradictive to restful sleep. Assembly was a breeze
The site made it easy to choose my frame and fabric. I chose the Ultra set, since I wanted it to include a headboard and a wide side rail to store my phone and tissues. After very little deliberation, I settled on the Dune colorway in a polyester-viscose-linen blend that can withstand the trials and tribulations of rowdy children and pets. All options feature varying levels of polyester and weave textures.
The bed frame first arrived folded compactly, so I let it “breathe” out of its packaging for a couple of days to allow it to return to its intended size. I orderedthis well-reviewed box springfrom Amazon to place underneath; it took about an hour to put together. I selected the eight- to nine-inch box spring for a height standard across most beds.
I then laid the bed frame atop the box spring as if affixing a fitted sheet to a mattress and secured the headboard between the bed frame and the wall.
Its durability surprised me
My almost-2-year-old daughter uses this bed as a trampoline. While she might be bite-size, she’s strong enough to damage furniture. This thing has withstood hours of her jumping without even creaking or warping.
I envisioned its headboard sliding around with the ebbs and flows of tossing and turning. To combat this, the brand includes Velcro to fasten the back of the headboard and the wall. I skipped this step to see how it fared on its own. In the year and a half since my purchase, the headboard hasn’t budged.
It’s family- and pet-friendly
I love the look of light colors in a bedroom, like the ivory Dune colorway, but knew it was a risky choice with children. One night, I hastily tried to administer grape-flavored acetaminophen to my daughter, spilling the entire dose of ruby-red syrup on the bed frame. After a few minutes of elbow grease and a rag doused in water and soap, the stain was undetectable.
The way I know this bed frame is pet friendly is that my two rambunctious cats will finesse anything into a cat scratcher. Whereas my previous bed frame displayed more fill than upholstery by the end of its life span thanks to my cats, this one by SoftFrame has gone unscathed because they aren’t particularly interested in sinking their paws into tight woven fabrics like they are, say, raffia or bouclé.
