If there’s one thing we know, it’s that a new pair of earrings can be a simple way to complete your look. And these days, it’s easy to find ear jewelry that’s much less expensive than it looks — even the biggest-box clothing brands have seriously stepped up their game. But to save you from having to look for them, we’ve rounded up some of the best options you can buy online for under $50, from surprising studs to hoops of all shapes and sizes to big, bold statement earrings.

Studs

This pair of gold studs has an organic hammered-metal texture, making them understated but not basic.

These classic studs with clear stones come in three smaller sizes — two, two and a half, and three millimeters — for elegant stacking.

These faux pearls, featuring a gold twist frame, look like something your fancy aunt would wear.

Gorjana, which makes some of our favorite hypoallergenic fine jewelry, also has more accessible offerings. We especially like these bold bar-shaped studs.

The brand Tini Lux makes titanium studs meant to be worn for sleeping or for a healing piercing — but they look nice enough for everyday wear, too.

When we tested ten different fine jewelry start-ups, Strategist writer Jenna Milliner-Waddell said this brand “caters to many tastes and price points by allowing shoppers to choose the material their jewelry is made out of.” These minimalist studs start at just $31 for the sterling-silver option.

If you like the idea of mixing and matching your studs, personal trainer Natalie Friedman recommends Maison Miru’s inexpensive and eye-catching sets. Plus, you won’t have to worry about taking them off before showering or working out.

These handmade circle earrings come in three different metals — yellow gold, rose gold, and sterling silver — and in two sizes — small and tiny.

Studs is a perennial favorite at the Strat for their range of funky designs and classic staples. Since most of their earrings can be bought as singles or pairs, they’re also excellent for mixing and matching.

An update to your grandmother’s pearls, these come with a delicate gold chain attached.

Hoops

This pair of oversize hoops are made with a lightweight nickel-free material, so you can wear them all day (and night) with no issues.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, these thick mini-huggies come from the sustainable teen-approved jewelry brand Ana Luisa.

This pair of chunky hoops is slightly bigger than the huggies above, but is still lightweight so they won’t weigh you down.

Here’s a pair of croissant hoops to add a bit of texture to your look.

Get two sets of everyday hoops for the price of one. Plus, they’re nickel-free and tarnish-resistant, in case you leave them on in the shower.

Created by New York–based fashion stylist Neumi Anekhe in 2018, Oma the Label provides elevated everyday pieces, including these 18K gold-plated brass hoops with added beading.

An elevated pair of slender sterling-silver hoops from a minimalist New York City–based brand.

If Harry Styles inspired you to add more pearls to your collection, consider these hoops studded with very convincing faux pearls.

Sold as a single or pair, these Notte earrings feature handmade charms crafted from Agate.

Writer Lauren Ro said she “appreciates how truly ‘everyday’ Mejuri’s offerings are — and how well its prices reflect that philosophy,” when she tested out the brand. These midi hoops are an excellent option if you’re looking for a pair that will last through plenty of wear.

These mini-huggies look great on their own, but we think they’re also subtle enough to wear in your second hole and pair with more statement-making earrings.

The Singaporean Chinese–owned brand is partnering with i=Change to donate $1 from every jewelry sale to a women’s-empowerment cause or charity.

Consider these square hoops for more of an edgier look …

… or an octagonal pair that was hand-forged in Bend, Oregon, in a renewable-energy-run studio.

Climbers, crawlers, and cuffs

Ear cuffs are a fun way to accessorize even if you don’t have your ears pierced. We love this teardrop opal one.

This cuff is more understated, but it features a fun, contemporary chain design.

From $22

Here’s one with a cheery butterfly that we think would look lovely on its own or mixed with other pieces.

For anyone who has a double piercing, these “doodle” earrings are tarnish-resistant, hypoallergenic, and nickel free.

Featuring a pretty leaf design, these ear climbers don’t require a double piercing but give the illusion of it.

A simple but elegant pair of ear climbers crafted with recycled sterling silver and dipped in 14K gold.

Statements and danglers

This playful set of earrings comes in navy blue, so you can add a pop of color to any outfit. There’s also a more subtle white option that can easily complement gold or silver chains in your jewelry collection.

Made with recycled metal, this pair of asymmetrical drop earrings is both sculptural and scene-stealing.

These customizable soda-tab earrings are sold as singles, making them perfect for mixing and matching. The tabs are removable from the hoops, and each feature a gold side and a pop of color on the other side.

We think this dainty set is excellent for nights out and more formal events.

Designed by Jessica R. Metcalfe of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa tribe, these earrings feature one-of-a-kind coral on sterling-silver hooks.

Here’s a sculpture pair of earrings that are understated enough to wear every day.

A funky addition to anyone’s jewelry arsenal, designed by fashion designer Warren Steven Scott of the Nlaka’pamux Nation.

Brighten up your collection with this cheery daisy earring, which you can purchase as a single or a pair.

Shashi designs and handcrafts every pair of earrings in New York, including these bold emerald drop earrings.

These modern-looking earrings are an homage to the art of Murano glass-blowing that was highlighted in a MoMA 1965 exhibition. Each pair is made in Italy and features sterling-silver posts and contrasting glass beads.
