I’m running a half-marathon on Sunday (my first of two this spring), so I’ve been prioritizing a lot of recovery as I prepare for the race. This time around, that means spending as long as I can in my favoriteHyperice compression bootswhile browsing endless apartment listings on StreetEasy andCurbed’sListings Edit. The current apartment my husband and I live in has reached a constant state of semi-disorder where we’ve simply run out of room for our stuff (okay,mostlymy stuff …). We’d love to find another two-bedroom with more room and a slightly better layout without these awful floor-to-ceiling windows that take up an entire wall and don’t open all the way. If we don’t find the right place by May, we’re not opposed to sticking it out for another year; we just might need to hire some professional organizing help, if anyone has any recommendations.
In the meantime, we’ve embarked on some updates sincemy last “Strategist Brain” apartment dilemma; we bought (and have since filled) thesefloating shelvesand have been using the Quince linen curtains (whichErin Schwartz recently wrote about here) for over a year. Here’s a contender for our next addition:

Emma Chamberlain is not usually on my rader, but there are a lot of very nice things inher West Elm collaboration. If we do end up staying in our apartment, maybe this entryway storage unit will help solve our using-the-dining-table-as-a-catchall issue. I didn’t know I hadn’t found my perfect pair of jeans until I purchased these in Washed Black last month during one of Everlane’s many sales. They’re the perfect straight-leg-skinny-leg in-between that I’ve been looking for (I just can’t get on the baggy, barrel-leg trend). The 26.5-inch inseam hits perfect, right at my ankles, and they miraculously have no dreaded waist gap. The sale price (less than $40!) lingers, which makes me worried they’re phasing these out altogether. I plan on buying at least another pair in a different shade.

I finally upgraded my personal laptop that I’ve had since 2018. I’m not one to always buy the latest tech model and will stick out minor inconveniences for a while. However, after some of the keys on my previous beloved rose-gold MacBook Air (itwas2018) no longer worked and the charge wouldn’t last more than 30 minutes, my husband convinced me it was time (that and the eventual rise in tech prices looming). This new model is absolutely incredible and I can’t believe I waited this long. The color is also beautiful.

Back in February, I got hyperfixated on vintage brooches and started betting on and sending offers to too many eBay and Poshmark listings to count. The best one I bought was this two-toned gold-and-silver sun-and-moon brooch from Anne Klein. I put it on my winter coat and I’ve never received more compliments. I’m (almost) sad that coat season is over and I won’t be able to wear it regularly. I need to find another safe spot to pin it to. Because I don’t gatekeep and want to share the whimsical joy, you, too, can get a sun-moon brooch of your ownhere,here, orhere.

I no longer have space for more band tees or posters. However, I still can’t resist good (and useful) band merch, so I’m always on the hunt for something silly and fun at concert merch tables. Probably the best piece of band merch I own are theseskeletonPhoebe Bridgerssweatpants. I bought them back in 2020 and have worn them nearly every day since. (Not exaggerating, you can ask my husband.) They’re just one of the most comfortable items of clothing I own, and they’ve held up froma lotof wear.
So, when I saw thesesweatshortsat the Hayley Williams concert last Sunday, I knew they had to be mine. They’re currently a tour-only item, but I’m sure they’ll pop up on her site sooner than later.
When not staring at rentals on my phone, I’ve beenreading more than ever. Perhaps in an attempt to avoid the task at hand, I spent a lot of time reading last week. I devoured these three — each extremely different — new releases in quick succession:

I couldn’t put this book down. Premise is, after her situationship breaks up with her, main character Lillian casts an Etsy-witch hex on him to win him back, only for him to be murdered the next day. What ensues is such a fun, wild, delusional ride I started questioning my own sanity by the end. I can’t recommend it enough!

I’m often drawn to books based in places I’ve been to. I initially picked this up because one of my grandmas used to live on Whidbey Island and another currently lives in Sidney, British Columbia. What a gift it is, though, to read something so hauntingly beautiful when you least expect it. This one isn’t for everyone. It’s a thriller that follows three women in the aftermath of an abuser’s murder, two of his victims and his mother. It’s at times very hard to read, but the last 80 pages are some of the best I’ve read in years.
