Attention obsessive shoppers and deal freaks: You can now see more of the Strategist’s expert-backed shopping recommendations in your Google search results thanks to a new feature called “Preferred Sources.”
Launched last week, Google’sPreferred Sourceslets you manually select outlets and publishers whose content you want to see. When you select a publisher as a preferred source, Google will feature that publisher’s content more prominently in the “Top Stories” section on search-results pages, as well as in a dedicated “From Your Sources” section.
It’s a handy tool if you feel that Google isn’t always giving you the results you’re after — and for those who want the best product recommendations and sales coverage, it’s a good way to ensure you’re getting the most thorough, up-to-date content from the Strategist.
The easiest way to add us to your preferred sources is to clickthis linkand check theNew YorkMagazine box. Once it’s checked, the Strategist (which is part ofNew York) will be saved as a preferred source.Intelligencer, also part ofNew York, will be a preferred source, too. You can do the same to see more content from our friends atthe Cut,Vulture,Grub Street, andCurbed— just click the links and check the box for each.

You can also add sources directly in your Google search-results page. Just search for something that’s in the news right now (for example, Labor Day sales), scroll down to the “Top Stories” section on the search-results page, and click the starred folder icon. Search for any outlet or publisher whose content you’d like to see more of, such asNew YorkMagazine, and check the box, then refresh your search results.
