I turned 40 a few months ago, and I swear myskinlooks better now than it did in my 20s. That may be partially because I now drink more than mere thimbles of water, but I’m stillsleep-deprived and not particularly good about the nutrition value of what I eat, so I am confident that it is mostly because of my beloved Solawave.
I bought thered-light face wandabout a year ago after being inundated by advertisements for it on social media. (The first one I received kept turning itself off unannounced even when fully charged, but the customer-service team responded promptly and replaced it.) I initially ordered a bottle of theserumto go with it but never bothered replacing it after it ran out, and the fact that I can use the Solawave without any particular serums or products is a large part of its attraction for me. I use it for the recommended 12 minutes about four times a week. It’s convenient enough that I can putter around with one free hand doing other things while I run the wand around my face. My face glows and myeyeslook much less tired than they feel.

Before the Solawave, I had tried the NuFace but gave up on it because of the need for their specific (and pricey)serumand because the NuFace can sting if you don’t have enough of the serum on, and I don’t like skin care that hurts. And while I loved watching the NuFace videos in which someone’s face magically lifts on one side, I never saw that happen to mine.
(Also: I’m no expert on the different technology, but part of the reason the NuFace was a more difficult device for me was because it uses microcurrents and the Solawave uses red-light therapy and something called galvanic current. Galvanic current apparently makes it easier for your skin to absorb other products that you may be using.)
I’m generally not fussy about skin care. I don’t wear sunblock regularly, even when I’m outdoors in the middle of summer, and my products include only what is not under lock and key at whichever CVS or Target I happen to be in. If I’m feeling particularly fancy, I’ll order some Kiehl’s avocado eye cream.
So it’s the Solawave. My former college roommates and I recently reunited to celebrate our 40ths, and they all marveled at my skin.
“I’m not wearing any makeup. Rub my face and see. Rub it,” I shouted at them. They didn’t rub my face, but they did all order Solawaves.
