We rarely regard the humblecutting boardwith the same prestige asknivesor consider the pros and cons of different models as we would when buying an expensiveblender. But wedouse them day in and day out — and there are qualities that make certain ones worth adding to your arsenal.
Take this version from Williams Sonoma, which is currently on sale for 36 percent off. It’s made from an ultra-durable plastic material that is, of course, safe (just like the silicone you’ll find in many of your kitchenutensils and gadgets) but also heat-resistant, nonporous, and stain-resistant. As long as you treat it well, it won’t pick up the flavors, odors, and colors of your food. One side is fully flat — ideal for chopping, dicing, and slicing — while the other features a well around the perimeter to catch juices, useful for cutting fruits and carving meat. You can lay it flat or stand it upright to store, but there’s also a handy hole at the top for hanging if that’s your storage preference.Andit’s dishwasher safe.
All in all, it has the markers of a solid board that can stand up to daily use with a few additional bells and whistles that make it a great buy — especially for just $18.
