October Prime Day is here, and we’re updating this story hourly. To find the best deals in every category, follow all of our October Prime Day coverage.
It’s time for another Prime Day, and I’m here yet again to dig into my area of expertise: the kitchen. I’ve spent hours scrolling through all of the marked-down items to pull the very best ones and will continue to do so for the next two days. I’ll keep an eye out for any changes to price or stock and add plenty of new additions as they come up — all with the eye of someone who has done this so many times before I know what’s truly worth your attention. I’ve also organized everything into categories to make it easy to peruse.
There are many marked-down appliances from premium brands: a powerful Vitamix blender, Cuisinart’s time-tested food processor, and the classic KitchenAid tilt-head stand mixer, among others. Discounted cookware is looking especially great, including discounted stainless-steel pots and pans from All-Clad and Made In and a high-end, worth-your-money (even at full price) cast-iron skillet. There are quite a few coffee and tea accessories on sale, so I put those into their own section, including a couple of Breville’s professional-approved espresso machines and our all-time favorite gooseneck electric kettle. Nearly everything you see below is at least 20 percent off, often much more — and if not, I give a good reason you still might want to consider it now.
Below, what I’d add to my cart. And in the meantime, if you want to shop all the best deals outside the kitchen, head here.
Deals I personally think are best

Cuisinart’s classic, powerful, workhorse food processor (that most people have for decades).

Staub and Le Creuset get all the Dutch-oven glory — but Lodge’s is excellent, too.

Fellow’s electric gooseneck kettle is the favorite of most industry professionals.

Breville’s classic Smart Oven has been around for almost two decades — and with good reason. It’s a workhorse that lasts and can do everything from make perfectly golden-brown toast to cook an entire dinner.

If you think two decades sounds like long time, try three. That’s how long the design of Cuisinart’s food processor has remained largely unchanged, because why mess with perfection? This thing powerfully blitzes and chops so you can make quick work of mirepoix, pestos, and salsas and doughs too.

For those who don’t have a ton of space, consider Cuisinart’s mini-version. I owned only this model for many years before I finally got the larger one above. It manages to work for nearly everything, even if occasionally you have to chop in two batches. Plus it’s less of a hassle to clean.

KitchenAid’s stand mixer is another that needs no introduction. If you like to bake even a bit, it’s worth every penny, especially at $100 less than its normal price.

Nearly every professional cook I’ve spoken to over the years says Vitamix makes the very best, most powerful blenders. They have tons of different models, but this one is a personal favorite (and our Best in Class pick). It’s not the highest-tech option, with a touchscreen and tons of presets, but also not the most basic. You can control the speed manually, pulse, or else pick from a handful of modes (like smoothie and soup) — a perfect sweet spot.

Unsurprisingly, Vitamix also makes my favorite immersion blender. Its motor is strong, and its blades sharp. There are five speeds, so you can do everything from slowly emulsify an aïoli to blend chunky vegetables into a smooth-as-can-be soup.

Zojirushi’s rice cookers are top-tier — and unless you’re feeding a household of more than four people, the three-cup size should work beautifully and not take up too much counter or storage space.

Cuisinart produces a ton of waffle-makers we love. This is a double-batch flip version with a tray bottom to catch any overflow.
Cookware and tools

This set is only marked down 17 percent — but it’s an especially useful collection of pots and pans, all ideal shapes and sizes with everything you need and nothing you don’t. There’s an eight-quart stock pot for big-batch stock, stews, and pastas; a three-quart saucepan for steaming rice and other grains, reheating soup, and simmering sauces; a ten-inch fry pan for foods like fried eggs and sautéed vegetables; and a three-quart sauté pan with higher sides, perfect for searing steak and crisping chicken.

While All-Clad makes the best-of-the-best stainless-steel cookware, Cuisinart is also solid — and much cheaper. With this set, instead of a sauté pan, you get a smaller 1.5-quart saucepan, another piece that really comes in handy. You can use it to simmer sauces; boil eggs; reheat a portion of anything liquidy, whether soup or a braise; and more.

Made In’s stainless-steel rivals All-Clad (and is normally similarly priced). The brand’s sales often hover around 15 percent off, but you can always find a gem or two marked down even more, like this beautiful saucier with rounded corners.

Le Creuset and Staub get all the Dutch-oven glory. And while I love both deeply, Lodge (better known for its cast-iron skillets) makes a fantastic and more affordable alternative — now even more so that it’s 27 percent off.

It’s worthwhile to splurge on a higher-end cast-iron pan if you can. Field is one of my favorites.

Wüsthof makes quality knives. While the makeup of this set has more going on than our pared-down top pick, it’s not over the top. It includes the four most useful blades (chef’s, bread, paring, and utility), plus kitchen shears, four steak knives, and a honing steel — all with their own spot in a wooden block.
Coffee and tea

This has been our favorite gooseneck electric kettle ever since it hit the market almost a decade ago. If tea or pour-over coffee is part of your daily ritual, it’s absolutely worth the investment, thanks to quick heating, precise temperature control and hold, and its elegant, controlled stream of water.

No matter how fussy you are about coffee, one truth is undeniable: Grinding your coffee beans fresh leads to the best-tasting brew. Oxo’s model lets you set grind size with 15 settings, plus 43 micro-adjustments so you can really dial it in, if that’s your thing.

Breville’s espresso-makers are widely considered the best home machines you can buy (only second to some exceedingly expensive café-level ones on the market). This version has a built-in grinder and milk frother so it can handle the perfect shot from beginning to end.

For a more compact machine, consider the Bambino Plus. There are fewer settings and no grinder — but I (and some other people) might actually consider that a plus, since it’s so simple to use.

The AeroPress is a classic way of making coffee, so if you’re interested in trying it (or yours is looking a little worse for the wear), grab one for just $30.

Though this cold-brew-maker is only 17 percent off, if you’re an iced-coffee-all-year-round person (or someone who wants to plan ahead for next summer), it’s a great bet. It makes a rich, deep coffee concentrate you can keep in the fridge for several days.

Here’s a versatile set of food-storage containers that come in various sizes and with a click-lock lid to secure well.

I personally prefer pot holders to oven mitts because they provide greater maneuverability. These have a textured side for even better grip.
