Strategist parents are a particularly discerning bunch. We’re constantly on the hunt for the best and most-worth-it stuff for the kids in our lives: shopping for our own children (as well as nieces, nephews, classmates, and friends), tracking which trends middle-schoolers can’t stop talking about, testing everything from strollers to lunch boxes, keeping up with toy releases, and interviewing experts and fellow parents about which products are actually useful — and which ones are overblown. Every day, our Slack chat is alight with questions, advice, and observations about what the tweens are into these days, the games and books our kids are obsessed with, what they want to be for Halloween, and so much more.

I’m Jen Trolio, a parent of two and a senior editor at the Strategist, and I’ll be coming to you each week — along with my fellow parent-colleagues and our trusted contributors — to share the products and topics we’re talking about among ourselves.
