What Karl-Anthony Towns Can’t Live Without

This was the Gatorade flavor I was drinking a bunch in the playoffs. People kept asking, “Why is he so enthralled with this Gatorade?” It was this: Gatorade made a flavor that I really wanted to see come to life.

While on the court during warm-ups, I’ve been playing a bunch of Freddie Gibbs this year in my headphones — shout-out to my brother. And every time I put Mac Miller in my headphones, it brings me closer back to my brother and to a friend that the whole world lost. It allows me to remember that these moments are special and just to be present and appreciate that I have this opportunity to do something special every night.

Man, shout-out to Xbox. My loyalty knows no bounds. In getting married and honeymooning, I was away from gaming for a while, but with the season coming around, that’s when I play a lot of video games so I have time to get back my crown. I last playedFortnitewith my nephew. The off-season’s the only time I get to hang out with my friends, be able to be present for my family, my niece, my nephew. Once I get back into the routine of the days of playing NBA basketball, I’m going to miss those moments of Little League baseball games, Saturday basketball games, dance recitals, or now with my niece, her volleyball games. I’m going to miss those because I’m here trying to get New York another championship.

Man, my Rimowa is all banged up! That’s what happens. It means I’m doing it right, I’m going places. When you’re traveling as much as I do, you have to make everywhere feel like home, and the Rimowa gives me the space to bring things that allow me to feel like home and also protect all the swag in there.

We have a great Knicks medical staff. They probably are the MVPs of our championship season for real. They got a lot of us back and got us on the court as healthy as possible, which is very hard to do, and I couldn’t live without these Therabody guns. They’ve been everything to me.

It’s theNo. 1 item in fashionright now, right? I mean, only rightfully so. When I’m not playing, I still rock a lot of Knicks gear. We got such cool stuff, man. I grew up being a fan of this team, and to be able to see this in my lifetime, a Knicks championship, let alone be on the team that does it — as a fan, there’s no better feeling.

Anyone who knows me knows I collect a bunch of sports cards. And with my company,Big Bodegas Breaks, I got to have some Topps cards because not only am I in a business, it’s my personal hobby. I love opening cards. My wife and I sit here for hours just opening cards, just talking, watching TV. And it’s really fun to have someone who enjoys the hobby as much as I do. I got that new Aaron Judge card recently that kind of blew up on the internet. That cost me a lot, though; I’m not going to lie. But there’s always another card to get. There’s always another card.

I always got to smell good. That’s something my mom always made sure of. My childhood was very scent driven, especially growing up in my household with the incense and the candles my mom loved and just that Spanish household, the smell of food cooking and stuff. The smells draw me back to mindfulness, and Dove Men+Care has some amazing bodywash scents. The shower, which is usually my only quiet time of the day, is special and kind of therapeutic. The rest of the day may be hectic, but I know that moment’s for me and myself and I.
