Back in 2017, we published an exhaustive guide to buying a coat that covered everything from the history of winter coats to a close inspection of the down fill inside a Canada Goose jacket. Nearly a decade later, we’ve come back to that idea — but in a bigger way. For the next five days, you’ll find answers to coat-related questions of all kinds, such as what differentiates an Aritzia Super Puff from a Lululemon Wunder Puff and which parkas snow-removal specialists wear. You’ll find new and updated guides to plus-size outerwear, cheap and warm coats under $300, and even dog jackets. To round out our recommendations, we polled dozens of New Yorkers about their coats of choice, and we asked people who live in the coldest parts of the U.S. (such as Alaska, North Dakota, and New Hampshire) what they wear to stay warm.
