You Should Probably Buy That UPPAbaby Now

A stroller is one of the most expensive purchases parents make; even the most affordable ones cost around $200 new, with some of the priciest models exceeding $1,000. And since a majority of strollers and stroller parts are manufactured in China, which has been hit with very hightariffsby the Trump administration, they’re about to get even more expensive.
UPPAbaby, maker of our pick for thebest stroller overall,recentlyannouncedthat because of the tariffs, “price increases are unfortunately unavoidable” and “will go into effect soon across most UPPAbaby products.” However, the brand has not said how much it will raise prices on its strollers and other baby gear or revealed when that will happen. (I’ve reached out to the brand to ask for more details and will update this post once I hear back.)
If you’ve been thinking about buying a new UPPAbaby stroller, whether it’s our top-pickVistaor another model like theCruzor theMinu V3, it makes sense to purchase it now if possible. As Strategist senior writer Michael Zhao explained in his story aboutbig-ticket items impacted by the tariffs, “Prices for items currently sitting in American warehouses are likely to hold steady for at least a few weeks.” But once the shelves are empty and brands have to import more stock into the U.S., we will see price hikes for sure.

For some strollers made by other brands, those price hikes have already begun. This week, I noticed that the price of the Nuna Mixx Next, my pick for thebest full-size single stroller, has gone up by $100 to $900 (though it is still currently available for $800 at Babylist). I also noticed that the price of the Guava Roam jogging stroller has increased from $550 to $750 but is currently on sale for $650 on the brand’s website. Another baby-gear brand, Cybex, which makes a noteworthyelectric double stroller, hasannouncedthat it will increase its prices starting on May 1.
As we have previously written aboutgoods made in China— which include all kinds of other baby gear, likecar seatsand baby monitors — whether or not American consumers see price increases will largely depend on how much of the tariffs each brand is able or willing to absorb.
Once UPPAbaby’s price increases go into effect, one cheaper option will be to purchase aVistaor Minu secondhand. But if you’re interested in newer releases like the Minu V3 (which I’m currently testing and can confidently say is better than its predecessor, the Minu V2), it’s worth buying now if you can swing it, while the window for pre-tariff prices is still open.
