We write about hundreds of products each week. Here, in our version of the Sunday circular, we’ve plucked some of our recent favorites: expert-recommended essentials, life-changing stuff you didn’t know you needed, newly launched gizmos, and very good deals we uncovered while trawling through the vast online-shopping universe —includingstylish and supportive “lifestyle sneakers,”Regina King’s Salomons, anda freezable lunchbox six teachers buy year in and out.

WriterEmma Wartzmanrecently polled Strategist staffers on perhaps the least glamorous, but most important, of things: thecleaning products they use to keep their wardrobes and homes spotless. Zout’s “laundry holy-grail” stain removing spray usually gets lead editorLauren Levysome strange looks when she recommends it. “The first time I told a friend about Zout, the stain-remover spray, they thought it was some knockoff of Shout. Nuh-uh,” she says. “Spray it on a stain and soak it in a little water and it’ll get rid of almost anything. Cherries! Mustard!”

Inthis month’sTesting Report, Wartzman wrote about Misen’s newest food storage set. The stainless steel containers are microwave safe, and their silicone lids are leak-proof and see through. “They can go in the microwave, freezer, oven, and dishwasher (though so far, I’ve only put them through the dishwasher). Like withdeli containers, the three sizes stack and the lids are universal,” she says. Aside from being a bit on the heavier side, they’re great. A heads up: current pre-orders ship out in November.

Amelia Jerdenspoke to Regina King aboutthe things she can’t live without, and they include her comfy but cute Salomons. While she’s partial to the “Florida Snow Crab” orange on the limited edition collaboration her friend’s husband helped design, she’s since purchased two other pairs: one for hiking, and one for everyday wear. “I love when something looks good and feels good. For anything that is a workout or when you’re going to be on your feet for a long time, those shoes are awesome. I have not looked up much about Salomon, but whoever Salomon is, he came up with a good shoe.”

“Now that I’m 60 andmy joints are riddled with arthritis, any sneakers I purchase need to fulfill two goals: They need to be stylish and make me seem a little cool,” says contributorSari Botton. Thus beganBotton’s search for the “lifestyle sneaker,” something she can painlessly walk around the city in for more than half an hour and pair with casual, chic clothing (and not sweats). Twelve pairs of Pumas, Golas, and Vivaias later, Reebok’s Ultra Los came out on top. The Field Green shade is her favorite color (and seamlessly coordinates with her green-heavy closet). She particularly likes the satin upper, and writes that “despite their low profile sole, these are wonderfully supportive, while also incredibly light.”

Linen skirts don’t belong just to the boho chic and coastal grandmas these days, according to writerBella Druckman. Now, just about every brand has a 100 percent linen skirt, some with devoted “Linen Shops.” Druckmantested eight skirtsin different cuts, colors, and styles, all under $150. Among her top picks was this one from Aritzia. While notentirelylinen, that’s a good thing; the cotton lining is soft against her legs and well-suited to sensitive skinned linen-skeptics. The tiered style, one Druckman usually stays away from for risk of looking “zhlubby,” is actually flattering, fitted with the daintiest waistband she’s ever seen on a skirt (a neat one inch that keeps the skirt securely in place). And the gingham print conveniently camouflages any wrinkles she didn’t have time to steam.

In the name of a fresh start, writer, contributor and teacherMaggie Yolenthinks it’s always fun to do a little shopping for a new school year. She surveyed several parents and educators on over a hundred of thegel pens, watches, notebooks, and more that they buy their kidsbefore the start of the semester. The most popular among our readers – and six of the teachers Yolen spoke to – is this lunchbox. Literacy specialist Katie Williams places it flat and folded in her freezer before she packs her kid’s lunches (no ice-pack necessary.) “Sometimes when my kids come home after a full day, the leftovers I sent (that went uneaten) are still cold,” says Williams.

For the latest “Beauty Aisle,” writerArielle Avilatalked toBy/RosieJane founder Rosie Janeabout her go-to drugstore beauty products. Besides theAquaphorshe’s used head-to-toe for two decades and the L’Oréalmascaraher oldest daughter converted her to is this texturizing spray. “I am a hair-product junkie.I wash my hair only about once a week max. And I tend to blow-dry it and apply some air-dry mousse and texturizing spray. The brand that I was using before was just so expensive, and I go through hair stuff fast. It’s not like I’m using just a little bit. The accessibility of Kristin Ess is great, and there was zero drop in quality.”

Strategist Dailyshared everything Regina King (still) can’t live without

Back in 2021, we asked actress and director Regina King about the things she can’t live without. Five years later, she revisited her list, which you can readhere. Turns out she still swears by herfoam rollerandfloss, but she has several new favorites, too, like thesilk pillowcaseshe won’t travel without andthe headphonesshe’s always hunting down on eBay. “The earphone padding is the perfect size. It’s not so big where it feels like it’s clamping my head, and it’s not so small where it’s bothering inside my ear. They’re kind of perfect,” she says.Read her full updated list here.

Arielle Avila reviewed a new lip stain forThe Strategist Beauty Brief

Kulfi’s lip stain, released two years ago, is a staple in my makeup bag. So when I saw the brand was adding a new matte stain to its lineup, I had to give it a go. My lips are sensitive and dry, and a matte lip has never been an option for me. It usually ends up highlighting my fine lines and looking flaky. Just like Kulfi’s original lip stain, this new iteration goes on like butter. It adds a nice flush of color and hydration, resulting in fuller, smoother lips without the shiny finish of a gloss or the thickness of a lipstick. It’s also transferproof. Right after swiping it on, I took a sip from my water bottle and no product was left on the spout. It did start to fade about three to four hours in, but I was happy to reapply the stain knowing it would keep my lips moisturized and flake free.” —Arielle Avila, writer

The Strategist Kids’ Departmentthinks Lalo’s new high chair is really nice

“Design-y kids’ brand Lalo has long made one ofour favorite high chairs, and today marks the release of theChair II, an extremely nice-looking evolution of the original. Not only does it eventually convert into all sorts of other stuff, including a play chair and a step stool, but it has all sorts of appealing upgrades: a smaller footprint to prevent parents from stubbing their toes every time they walk by, an adjustable backrest and footrest that encourage proper posture, a tray you can remove with one hand, and wipeable silicone straps on the harness (talk about a potential game changer). We’ll have a full review on the site soon, but in the meantime, if you know someone who’s expecting, it would make a stud of a baby shower gift.” —Jen Trolio, senior editor
