Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Bankers Boxes Are Perfect for Moving

For better or for worse, as Strategist editors and writers, we cannot turn off our shopping brains. In Saw Something, Said Something, we write about the tiniest of details that have caught our eye — status toothpaste in the background of Lizzo’s TikTok, a plant so rare it’s called a Birkin, or a specific face cream in a Roy sibling’s medicine cabinet.

This afternoon the Department of Justice unsealed the indictment charging former president Donald Trump with 37 felony counts for allegedly mishandling classified documents. The indictment included photos of the documents stored in boxes stacked in a Mar-a-Lago ballroom and bathroom. The scenes caught our attention because, as it turns out, bankers boxes are dead useful (and, apparently, a Strategist staff favorite). “They really do hold up. I bought a case of them in 2019, and they’ve lasted through three moves (two cross country),” says Strategist senior editor Simone Kitchens. “The uniformity of the size just makes packing (then stacking) a lot more seamless. I used to move with a million random-size cardboard boxes and various tote bags. Now, just the bankers boxes.” Fellow senior editor Chelsea Peng co-signs: “I never move without them.”
