Luckily, vacuums are one of those products that are regularly on sale. The discounts can vary greatly, but you can almost always find some excellent (and Strategist-approved) options — including now, in a discount dead zone when even the New Year’s sales have come to an end. Despite the ever-present discounts, not every brand or model is on sale at all times, so I’ve done the digging for you and rounded up the best vacs that are on sale right now. Everything below is at least 20 percent off (there are some especially good deals on Dysons at the moment) and has been vetted either by our team or a professional cleaning expert, so whatever you choose, you can trust it’s a good buy.

There’s a variety of vacuum types on sale, so I’ve picked my favorites from a few categories. It’s the most prevalent shape in our Best in Class guides by far, and you can usually find a good deal on some of our favorites at Amazon, Best Buy, or Target at any given time.

If you’re looking to splurge on a fancy vacuum, the Dyson V15 is worth every penny. It’s our favorite for small spaces, and the “chief cleanologist” atSpark Car Wash, Ryan Easter, says it’s “lightweight, cordless, modular, small, and still does a great job.”

A great pick for allergy sufferers, this Samsung model isn’t a classic bagged vacuum, but it does a have self-emptying dock with a bag, which is the next best thing. It’s pricey, but as far as cordless vacs go, it’s an excellent low-dust pick.
Upright vacuums

According to Zhao, this Shark model “feels a bit sturdier than Shark’s cheaper offerings and, crucially, is one of the most affordable models to come with its anti-tangle HairPro roller, which really works.” It’s just one of the reasons he named itthe best (less expensive) corded vacuum.
Canister vacuums
Canister vacuums are potentially more cumbersome that your standard upright and definitely take up more space that a stick model, but they’re your best bet for combining superior suction power with maneuverability and the ability to clean hard-to-reach spaces. And because bagged vacs (like the ones below) are generally more hygienic than other types, they’re also a best bet for allergy sufferers.

Robot vacuums
If you like the idea of a vacuum that does most of the work for you, consider getting arobot vacuum. When these first arrived on the scene, most were pretty pricey — but today, you can find plenty of excellent options for just a few hundred dollars. That said, a handful are still worth the occasional splurge.
