What Heidi Klum Can’t Live Without

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I start the day with either an onion soup, an asparagus soup, or a broccoli soup. I cook that for a while, and then I use the Ninja immersion blender to give it a little mix. Normally, when you put something into a gigantic blender, it turns everything into a smoothie. I don’t want the soup to be like baby mush. I like how with this blender, I can place it wherever I want it just to give it a stir and make the broth a little thicker.

I looked into all these different waters when people started talking aboutplastic versus glass, and this one is my favorite. It is a bit of an everyday luxury for yourself to have this amazing water. It tastes really good. When you try different waters, they sometimes have a flavor to them. When I drink Mountain Valley, I don’t feel like I’m tasting other things in it. I guess we all have different taste buds, but this one tastes the cleanest and yummiest to me.

This is from my friend, the designer Marina Hoermanseder. I was just actually wearing one of her creations.I went to the Grammys in this very hard dressthat was made out of leather but looked like plastic. It was very shiny but hard to walk in. Anyway, she was the designer, and she made this chain for me. It has my husband’s name on it, it has all my kids’ names on it with these little hearts. It looks like a candy necklace or bracelet. It gives my phone a personal touch.

The Birkenstock Arizona is definitely one of my favorite styles. It goes with anything and everything. Birkenstock is a brand that’s close to my heart. They’re very close to my family’s home where I grew up, and at that time, we were not really seeing a lot of orthopedic shoes that were fashionable. I’m a huge fan. I wear them all the time, whether with jeans, dresses, long skirts, on vacation. It’s my absolute favorite flat shoe. Either I’m in sneakers, in Birkenstocks, or in super-high heels. There’s not a lot of in-between.

A lot of the time, people just think of Christian Louboutin as a shoe designer, but I really have to give it to him for creating these amazing fragrances. I get complimented all the time on this fragrance. Everyone is always like,Wow, you smell so good. It’s not fruity and light, it’s deep and amber-y. It smells sexy.

I have long hair, so I love to do a wet brush in the shower. This brush has steel bristles, and I use it to get the product from my roots all the way to the ends of my hair. I‘ll put conditioner in my hair and then use this brush to help slide it through all the way. A lot of people are like,Why do you do this? You know, because your roots might get greasy or whatever.But I’ve always done it this way. When I come out of the shower, my hair is smooth — it’s not knotted.

I’m a bit old-fashioned in that I still have a real notebook in which to write things down. I still write down my to-do lists. I think this notebook is really cool. It’s stylish, it’s slim, it’s not too big. I lug it around everywhere because I have ideas everywhere. If I have a meeting or if I’m talking with my team about something and I have to take notes, it all goes in there, so I better not lose it. I could just do it on my phone like everybody else, but I’m not on the cloud. Every time I switch phones, it’s always a process. All my things disappear because they don’t transfer.

Maybe it’s just because I’m getting older, but everyone is always saying we need to have more magnesium, magnesium, magnesium. If you’re someone who doesn’t love pills, the Erewhon magnesium sachets are so great to throw in your purse. When you see it in your purse, you’re like,Ah, let me pop this in my water.And then your water tastes yummy also.

Another thing that I love and carry with me is Manuka honey. I don’t put it in my tea, because I’ve learned that supposedly anything that you put into boiling hot water, like lemon juice or honey, it kills everything. You’re supposed to let it simmer down a bit so it’s not so hot. But I actually just take a spoon, put it in the jar, and eat a scoop like that every now and then. I look for a pricey one and I just hope that it’s good. I feel like it’s a medicinal potion in a way, so I want to invest in one that is really good.

Right now, while I’m talking to you, I have five-pound weights in my hands. I sit at my desk when I’m having calls, so I’ll do a little exercise with the dumbbells when I’m talking at the same time. I’ll go up and down over my head, or do crunches where you bring them to your chest, or you bring your elbows up like a butterfly, or put your arms out straight on either side and go up and down. It’s just little things, but it makes a difference, especially at my age, to keep your arms looking nice.

If I have a drink at all, I would definitely have it with fruits and vegetables. Like a lychee martini with Grey Goose; or an olive martini, extra dirty, with Grey Goose; or a Bloody Mary with tomatoes, celery, and Grey Goose. My brother-in-law introduced me to the espresso martini, obviously also with Grey Goose, because that’s one of his favorite drinks, and I was like,Wow, this is really yummy.The Devil’s Roasthas three gold beans — how chic!
