All of Yamazaki’s Small-Space-Friendly Organizers Are 20 Percent Off This Weekend
In this article
I’ve lived in plenty of shoe-box New York apartments, but my recent move takes the cake — it’s a studio turned one-bed, unrenovated since the 1960s, with all the charm (and character) you’d expect. Fitting my stuff in the small kitchen and bathroom is a nightmare, and the only saving grace has been item-specific organizers like hanging spice racks and cabinet caddies. Yamazaki is the holy-grail brand when it comes to these. We’ve long liked the brand — it’s shown up in nearly every Best in Class home organization roundup we’ve done. Every piece is sleek and nondescript, available mainly in black or white, made from simple materials like steel and wood, and designed to fit into small spaces. (We actually collaborated with the brand in 2024 to release limited-edition forest-green versions of some of our favorite items.)
From April 17 to 19, Yamazaki’s home anniversary sale is on with 20 percent off sitewide. It’s rare that its organizers are discounted this much — it usually caps sales at 15 percent off — so now’s the time to treat yourself to any products you’ve been eyeing. (It’s still spring-cleaning season, after all.)

This is our favorite dish-drying rack for a few reasons: It’s sturdy enough to handle heavy kitchenware, the tall sides keep items wrangled, there’s a curved section for plates and a utensil holder with drainage, and it lasts a long time (Emma Wartzman, our senior kitchen and dining writer, has had hers for around five years with minimal wear and tear). Plus, the bottom tray is removable to dump out any excess water. Not to mention the unit is surprisingly beautiful for a dish rack.

Another great dish-drying rack but this time for small spaces. In my tiny kitchen, it’s just narrow enough to slide in the miniscule space between the sink and the wall, freeing up the rest of the counter for much-needed organization and appliances. But the double-decker feature means there’s still plenty of room for everything that needs drying (and I mean everything — I don’t have a dishwasher). The bottom tray slides out for easy cleaning, and the detachable hooks are ideal for utensils. Alternatively, I’m eyeing this over-the-sink dish rack that fits just as much as the original.

It’s earned the best freestanding paper-towel-holder award because of the praise it gets from professional organizers, who say it’s extra sturdy (no shifting around or toppling when pulling out a sheet).

If, like me, your counter space is precious, this paper-towel holder has a magnet that can attach to your fridge for both easy access and a space-saving solution.

Better yet, this magnetic organizer fits a paper-towel roll, spices or foil-wrap boxes, and utensils or dish towels.

If your kitchen (or bathroom) is lacking in storage space, this rolling cart adds four more shelves (including the flat wood top) for pantry goods, extra towels, backup shampoo, and more. It’s also five inches wide and on wheels, so you can push it between a nook or cranny and pull it out when you need it.

Keep your most-used spices and oils within reach with this no-installation-required spice rack. (It’s a best seller with our readers.)

Lazy susans are perfect for tiny kitchens, whether stocked with pantry goods or stored in the fridge with condiments.

Because my cabinet space is scant, I have all my plates and bowls stacked in one column — and you can imagine how annoying it is to get something from the bottom of the pile. I need this dish riser to separate the small plates from the large.

If the inside of your cabinets look like a tornado ran through them, this organizer can keep extra washcloths neat and tidy. It also works for displaying nice towels in open shelving.

The other miscellany in your bathroom cabinets can go in a caddy like this, rather than being strewn around uncategorized. This also works great under the kitchen sink for cleaning supplies.

Another small-space storage solution: Put this narrow (under five inch) organizer in your bathroom to hold between eight and ten rolls of toilet paper. It’s one of our favorite toilet-paper holders because it’s sleek and keeps TP hidden while still making it easy to grab a new roll from the opening at the bottom.

We named this 2.5-gallon trash can the best with a handle in our roundup. The handle makes it easier to empty (no accidentally brushing some garbage while picking up the can) and adds an interesting design touch to an otherwise simple, sleek visual. It fits nicely under the kitchen sink but is also lovely enough to leave out in the open of a bathroom or office, too.
Laundry

A nice-looking and functional hamper is hard to find, but this is our best overall pick for laundry. It’s freestanding but collapsible for hauling to the laundry room or folding away if it’s not needed. Strategist senior editor Winnie Yang has owned the hamper for around five years, and after much wear and tear from her family of four, it looks nearly new.

Everyone has that “clothes chair” in their bedroom, but this storage ladder is a solution that looks much nicer. Writer Laura Perciasepe uses it in her small New York apartment to catch items she wears a lot, like bras and T-shirts, and now she can actually sit on her bedroom chair. There’s also a grid version (ideal for accessories like scarves and jewelry) and one with a shelf.

This is our favorite expandable shoe rack (and Strategist senior writer Liza Corsillo’s favorite buy of 2022). It can hold between two and four pairs of shoes per shelf, depending on how far it’s extended, and comes in black and white as well as this fun green color (similar to our partnership with the brand from a couple years ago). It’s also “calming to look at, like the décor you’d see in a boutique hotel upstate,” Corsillo says, and is surprisingly strong.

An upgrade to the standard over-the-door hook, this can either rest over a door or be screwed into a wall (and there’s a magnetic version too). When open, you can put multiple hangers on it (and there’s a bonus hook underneath, which you can use even when the entire item is folded up). Ideal for hang-drying clothes in a small space.

My over-the-ear headphones take up way too much space on my small desk, so I love the idea following junior writer Bella Druckman’s lead of hanging them up on this stand to clear space while also looking neat and organized.

I desperately need to wrangle the seemingly endless cords around my desk, and this box is just the thing — it hides power strips and cables and looks sleek while doing it.

Yamazaki Tosca Pen + Desk Organizer
I also love the idea of keeping this on my desk or entryway cabinet to stash mail, pens and scissors, notes, and other ephemera that collects.

This jewelry organizer has a small footprint while still leaving plenty of hooks for necklaces, dangly earrings, and watches.

Another nice jewelry-organizing option for the pieces that don’t need to hang, like rings, stud earrings, broaches, or dainty hoops — each compartment swings in and out so you can hide away the jewelry if needed.
